Dear Friends,
The thermometer under our carport read 91 degrees today...in the shade. Summer is definitely upon us! Many of you are making your travel plans, some of you are on vacation and others have already braved the theme parks and beaches and are home resting from all the fun. Whatever the case, I hope you are enjoying your summer.
We love summer at the Harris house. The girls (Suzanne and Rebecca) are out of school and we stay up watching movies all night and we sleep late in the mornings. Well, actually Suzanne is taking a class for her master's program and Rebecca is busy with her hostess job at Don's Seafood hut. And, oh yeah, I'm still in the middle of planting that NewSong place. OK, so we aren't staying up late and sleeping all morning (unless you call 6:30 am late), but we do love the summer.
As much fun as we have with our families, summer can be tough on churches. Especially new churches. Here's why. As noted earlier, many people travel. It gives us pastors heartburn to look at the attendance records during the summer months. Attendance can drop as much as 30%. Where is my Pepcid? And, as you can imagine, if attendance goes down, the offerings each Sunday tend to go down as well. I think I'd better reach for the extra strength Pepcid now.
Here's the deal. Please remember to support NewSong over the summer with both your presence and your tithes and offerings. It's important for any church, but even more so at a new church.

Worship Concert This Friday , June 26th, @ 7:00 PM
Join us for an evening of songs and praise as Andy Pierson leads us in worship.
Andy Piercy was part of the worship team at Holy Trinity Brompton in London from 1993 to 2006. During that time he accompanied Bishop Sandy Millar and Rev. Nicky Gumbel to many Alpha conferences around the world and across the USA.
Saturday June 26th Andy will hold a worship workshop. It is free and open to anyone. Lunch is provided. More info: 333-2371

One Day Vacation Bible School July 25th
NewSong's first VBS a One Day Event
Please make plans to volunteer for VBS July 25th. Our first VBS will be a one day event with all the fun and activities for kids crammed into about 6 funfilled hours.
Our children's ministry coodinator, Marcie Boltinghouse is planning an action packed day with jumpers and games and Bible lessons and snacks and, whew, let me catch my breath.
