Jakob and Wilhelm Grimm are the two brothers responsible for making such well-known fairytales as "Hansel und Gretel", "Aschenputtel (Cinderella)", "Schneewittchen (Snow White)", "Rumpelstilzchen", "Rapunzel" and others household stories.

Their life was much like the folk tales they gathered as they started life amongst six of nine surviving children who were the children of a father who worked for royalty.  (It sounds like a Grimm story already).  However the beginning to their "fairytale" life ended when their father passed in 1796 stranding their mother with six children under the age of 12.  The family was forced to move into a small home barely adequate for the large family.  To make matters worse in two years later in 1798 their grandfather died truly leaving their mother all alone.

The Brothers forged ahead despite the setbacks and launched into an extensive education studying law.  The book of Grimms Brothers Fairytales was only collected as research material for the boys linguistics study and in their beginning adult years they compiled the stories (each assigned their own number) into a volume.  Little did they know their research for education would place them into historic immortality.
