Greetings
People Make it Happen

One of the many enjoyable aspects of our business is getting to know those who produce the foods we sell.  There are many inspiring and interesting stories behind the array of food stuffs we carry.  It is no surprise to those of us living in NW Washington that a food revolution is taking place.  Consumers (like you and me) are

eschewing faceless factory produced foods for the sustainable, natural, and often local products available in growing numbers.  We sell baguettes from Edison's family owned bakery, the Breadfarm.  Our delicious featured cheeses this month (see below) are both family made farmstead cheeses from our region (Rollingstone and Willapa Hills).  Our ever popular Vosges chocolates are the creation of a woman who combined her passions for exquisite food, world cultures, and love. It is delightful to contribute to the success of these food pioneers dreams while making socially and ecologically responsible, great tasting food available.

Cheers,
Le Fromage Crew

Farmstead Cheeses

Anise Lavender, Roasted Garlic & Willapa White

Willapa White

Although the weather isn't cooperating, the animals know it is Spring and delicious seasonal farmstead cheeses such as these are now available! Cheese labeled farmstead is made on the farm on which the milk used is produced.  Rollingstone Anise Lavender and Roasted Garlic Chevre are made in Idaho's Snake River Valley by herdsman/cheesemaker Karen Evans.  All of their cheeses are made exclusively with the milk from their pastured herd of pure Saanen goats.  Critics have said this may be the best chevre out there...and we agree!  Pictured above is the delicate hand ladled 100% sheepmilk Willapa White from Washington's third generation family run operation, Willapa Hills.  They have been taking the Washington food world by storm and were recently featured at the Seattle Cheese Festival as well as at ART (a restaurant) in Seattle's Four Season's Hotel.  Come in and get a bit of Spring!

Fromage A Go-Go

 Picnic in a Box

fromage a gogo

Yes, they're back - just in time for hiking, biking, boating, and lazing in the sun.  A $20.00 combination of cheese, baguette, fruit, chocolate and more, these to-go boxes happily feed two people.  Choose from three popular options: the Chuckanut (brie & honey), the San Juan (gruyere and tapenade), and the Mt. Baker (cheddar & salami).  We carry San Pellegrino, wine, and beer for a one stop picnic.

FYI This may be the perfect snack to greet your Ski-to-Sea participant with at the finish line, we're on the way!

 Sheep Yogurt

Bellwether yogurt
From the oft requested and ever popular Bellwether Farms in Sonoma County, new this month, Sheep Milk Yogurt.  This may well become your breakfast of choice.
Made with high quality sheep's milk from healthy pastured animals and Columbia River Valley fruit.  There are a lot of yogurts out there, this one is mild, creamy, and exceptionally delicious!

Chorizo Picantechorizo picante

The Real Thing

Can't fit a trip to Spain in this Spring?  Bring Spain to you!  Our Chorizo Picante Espana is the real thing, imported from Spain.  It is nitrate and nitrite free, mildly spicy with a distinctly smokey flavor.  This dry-cured chorizo is ready to eat with crusty bread, cheese, and a Spanish red wine.  We have a selection of Spanish classics:  Manchego cheese, Marcona almonds, Quince paste, and more.
