Greetings!
It may be September but it feels like summer and I am still enjoying the warm weather with swimming and outdoor eating. I have had a special treat for the last two days, a chance to do several raku bead firings. I have included a sample of my treasures in the photo here. Later in the newsletter you will see some of my new raku beads and pendants in the News From My Studio section.
I hope that you have enjoyed your summer and that children returning to school and crispy, chilly nights are welcome signs of fall. Summer is my favorite season, so these raku days have given me a chance to hang on to and savor the last of summer. Whatever I will be making with them will be extra special because they will be my summer season in fall and winter.

Right Angle Weave Class at St. Lawrence County Arts Council
I have been asked to teach a class at the St. Lawrence County Arts Council in Potsdam at 51 Market Street. I will be teaching a fun class in Right Angle Weave. This is an off loom beading stitch which can be adapted to form all kinds of jewelry. I am showcasing two possible versions of this technique in the photos here. Students will have a choice of at least these two different bracelet designs and a variety of beads to choose from. The picture on your left is with seed beads and pearls and is built on the classic tennis bracelt as seen in the picture on your right. The class will be on Wednesday October 24th from 6PM to 8:30PM. Please call the Arts Council to register. Their phone number is 265-6860. You can email them at slcartscouncil@yahoo.com. or visit their website. I will be bringing beads and clasps for the bracelets. The Tennis stlye bracelet features Swarovski crystals and an antique style toggle clasp. The colored pearl bracelet could also be done with swarovski crystals. I hope to see you at the class.

New Location for Artists Tour
The annual Artits' Studio Tour which is run by the St. Lawrence County Arts Council will be three days this year on November 2, 3, and 4. I will be in a new location this year: My Own Studio. Isis Melhado will be my guest artist. Isis will be demonstrating spinning and I will be demonstrating ceramic bead making and glass fusing. We both hope that you will come and visit during the tour. Brochures for the tour become available in October and I will be giving more specifics about location, hours, and demonstration times in my next newsletter.
