Sam Smiley

Nine-year old Sam Smiley began taking Wee Putter classes at Button Hole in 2005. He recently completed the Beginner course.

Sam says that his favorite part of the Beginner course is going to the driving range and hitting balls. He is excited that spring is finally here, so he can practice and play. Sam hopes to come to Button Hole with his father at least two times a week this season.

New Addition to the
Button Hole Family
We are very excited to announce that Dan Gaughan has joined the Button Hole team as the Head PGA professional and director of instruction. Originally from Tiverton, MA, Dan comes to Button Hole with impressive credentials. Dan is a Class A PGA Professional, for six years held the position of assistant professional of the Fall River Country Club, working along side PGA professional Tom Tetrault. Most recently, Dan served as assistant professional to Kyle Phelps at the Rhode Island Country Club for the past 4 years.

Dan brings the skills and expertise to provide lessons in life through lessons in golf and grow Button Hole as a much needed community resource for inner-city kids. "It was a great opportunity, Button Hole is a unique facility unlike any other in the state," says Dan.

It's never too early to start thinking about summer camp options for your children. Button Hole is offering a number of sessions this summer, due to the overwhelming response of the programs offered last year. The 3 day camps allow young golfers between the ages of 8-17 the opportunity to learn the game and improve their skills at the short course and teaching facility.

Announcing Participants for 2008
CVS Caremark Charity Classic

PGA pro and Button Hole Honorary Co-Chair, Brad Faxon came out to Button Hole last Monday to announce the participants in this year's 10th Annual CVS Caremark Charity Classic. One of the most prestigious golf tournaments in New England, the classic has raised over $10 million for charities since its beginning. Providence Journal coverage focused on this year's diverse makeup of talent. Button Hole is one of the many charities that benefit from the tournament.

Brad Faxon was kind enough to put on a small putting clinic for the kids in attendance.
Learning from the Pros

What a way to spend part of Spring Break, out on the course learning from Pros Dan Gaughan, Gary Dorsi and Susan Bond. Over 25 high school students involved in golf teams from across Rhode Island spent April 15th at Button Hole, learning from some of the best golfers in the area. Breaking out their clubs for what might be the first time of the season, students learned the rules, etiquette and techniques of the game including putting, pitching and full swing.
