Catherine Ferguson Academy for Young Women Needs Our Help! By request, Loretta Gadson (Staff-originally at the Guardian store) is teaching 12 young ladies how to knit and crochet 2 times a week, so that they may make garments for their children and benefit from the joy of crafting and gain another skill towards the goal of self sufficiency. The girls are excited to learn and determined to do a good job. However, Loretta tearfully reported that " ..some do not all have proper outerwear for themselves and/or their children." They take the buses with their children to the academy. It is really cold out there! These young ladies are proud and determined to make a good life for themselves and their children. "Charity" is not a word they would like used in reference to them. So, we are going to help from a distance, with tact and compassion. Loretta has won their trust and will make sure that the donations are accepted in the spirit of sharing and caring.
Impromptu MLK Day Knit-In 10-4PM Fisher Building Make hats and mittens for the girls and babies. Pizza and Pop provided.
Donations Accepted at both City Knits locations until January 31, 2009. Please act fast!!! Clean, almost new and/or tidy coats, parkas, buntings, snowsuits, hats, mittens, snow boots, and any other cold weather gear for the children and their mothers.
Yarn donations for the girls greatly appreciated. Superwash wool would be the kindest thing in your stash that you might part with. Monetary donations also accepted - every single dime will go the training and transportation.

This stitch was introdused to the world of knitting through Interweave Knits. Many other original designs will be available as well, e.g. I-cord twill hat, Christina's capelet, brioche rib scarf and hat, tam, etc.
Rita's Favorite Wrap from Vogue Winter 2007/8 and Sweater. P.S. Rita will have her first design published in a pattern book by Misti Alpaca, it debuts this Spring.

Amy's Wellesley -A Seven Sister Cabled Hat and Matching Scarf. Such a hit on Campus that they keep getting misplaced (Hummm.....Girls at Wellesley Don't Steal do they???) - Free with purchase of Handpainted Chunky Misti.
An updated and improved version of the pattern is available to those who received the Beta Version. email: admin@cityknits.com
Mary Beth's Purse Kits. Sparkles and Spanges suitable for evening wear, or tone them down for everyday use. Watch for her beaded/felted purses later this month, it's so cool!!
