Some of the treats for fall and sooner.
Stirling Bags by DBH Design has leather cases that meet our standards for circular needle wallets - crochet and double point cases, and matching tote and accessory bag. All in amazingly affordable leather fashion shades of pink, lime and black. You'll want all 4 pieces.
Prism Yarns - Try Indulgence, wondrously soft and subtle, a crimped silk and mohair blend, just three skeins for a stunning spiral wrap - 6 yummy colors. Fiber Artist Bags are back - a $400 value for just $160 - a pre made stash with endless inspiration.
Misti Alpaca - the only thing that could make Misti Alpaca's Chunky Alpaca better is to let the hand dyers of Arequipa, Peru work their magic. So mid- fall, we can barely wait, 11 fabulous colorways will arrive, with a must-have seed stitch jacket design.
Even better - a fabulous spinner and hand dyer, Pagewood Farms of California brought glorious textured and sparkling handspun that coordinates perfectly with the Misti Alpaca chunky hand paint. You'll love their bamboo, wool and nylon blend sock yarn, too.
Chameleon Yarns is sending us a new sportweight merino yarn - machine washable because the fibers have been mechanically stretched - won't shrink when washed, and incredibly soft and drapey, in 9 luscious hand dyed shades. Great for socks and baby clothes.
From Aussie Yarns we selected affordable 100% silk hand paints from China in 5 colors, and intriguing multi metal shawl pins.
At City Knits we are committed to offer the widest variety of fibers. Who knew anyone would blend cashmere, cotton and hemp into a new sportweight treat for knitters and crocheters? Rich classic colors, perfect for a shell under suits. We are also excited to introduce new and improved 100% Hemp yarn from Lana Knits. This new generation hemp yarn is MUCH softer and comes in a pleasing palette of colors.
From Stitch Diva - outrageously cool patterns from delicate crocheted necklaces, to a stash busting Tunisian stitch afghan on a giant hook; amazing knitted corsets (not for everyone...) and delicate hair pin lace crocheted ruffles as well. Great size range in every design.
We found artisan crafted jumbo circular needles sizes 35 and 50 with beautiful wooden tips, and the most versatile, deluxe hair pin lace loom ever.
We have expanded our selection of 100% cashmere lace weight from Jojoland.

Wednesday July 4 - Sunday, July 8
Taste Fest...oops...City Fest-Yarn Fest. New name, new dates, same old fun. Detroit's best outdoor party of food, music and urban fun will happen a little later this year - starting on Wednesday, July 4 through Sunday, July 8. City Knits will have a booth on Second Avenue as part of Merchant's Row, and will be open both on the street and in side from 11 am to 10 pm (8 pm Sunday night).
- Community knitting and crochet - We will again host informal stitching and teaching at the circular bench outside throughout the festival hours. This will be our first Fest since we moved upstairs. Should be interesting with teaching table inside right next to the Techno Stage Beer Stand... hmmmm...Plan to use only the entrance inside the Fisher Building.
- Yarn Fest - Wouldn't be taste fest without special deals on yarn. Check your email for details about customer courtesy days beginning June 25 to give you a head start.
- "Green Yarns" - Come learn about the environmentally friendly fibers we carry from Southwest Trading company - yarn from soy, bamboo, corn, and even shrimp, in many gorgeous colors - not just green.
- Fiber Frolic - Choose up to ten different yarns, each 6 yards long, and we'll show you how to convert them to a fun fashion accessory in less than 15 minutes. Don't just pet our yarn; take some home! City Knits will donate a portion of the five dollar project cost to breast cancer research.

| Cat Bordhi Regrets
|
|
|
I had hoped to confirm a date with Cat Bordhi for a fall visit to City Knits, instead I received this apology from Cat by email:
"I'm not going to be traveling to teach any new workshops for pretty much the next year, except for a couple that have been planned for a very long time. I want to stay close to home during my grandson's first year, when I can be a tremendous help to my daughter and can also have the enormous joy of being with him while he is a baby. So I won't be able to come to teach for you this year. . . . . I'll also be staying home in order to get the next two books in the series done."
City Knits is high on her waiting list for when she resumes teaching. Until then, although I'm no substitute for Cat, if you're eager to learn the moebius cast-on, I'm just as eager to teach you.
