San Marin High School Art Department and Mary's Pizza Shack are partnering to help raise funds to pay for additional art supplies. On this one day event, Mary's will donate 20 percent your purchase provided you present the special Mary's flyer when ordering your meal.
Mary's Pizza Shack serves homemade pizzas, pastas, sandwiches, salads and soups perfect for the whole family. The fundraiser includes dine-in, take-out, and delivery. Don't have time to stay? Mary's will donate 10 percent of gift card purchases on the event date. Those who buy a gift card on April 25th may use it later any time. .

Tour of Novato - Get involved!!
San Marin High School's Goal
Is to Raise $25,000 to Purchase Computer Technology Benefiting the Entire School!
Parents, teachers, students, administration, alumni and friends come join the Tour of Novato and ride 10, 25 or 50 miles; or support the cause and make a tax deductible donation to support one of San Marin's riders.

Due to various testing days next week (starting May 2nd) , Monday, Tuesday and Friday will be regular schedule days. Wednesday and Thursday will be minimum days! NO BLOCK DAYS NEXT WEEK!

Parents! Please! Would you like to help out on Career Day?
We are in the process of recruiting speakers for Career Day, Wednesday, May 18th. Students were surveyed about their career interest and would love to hear about careers in public safety, business, arts and entertainment, health professions, the trades, and the nonprofit sector. Program will be a morning event and finishing up with a hosted lunch. We are looking forward to offering the students a great experience and a little taste of the real world!

Sophomore Writers Capture Essay Awards!!
Congratulations to sophomore Daisy Rodriguez who won First Place in the annual district-wide essay contest sponsored by the Rotary Club of Novato Sunrise. Congratulations also go to finalists Jennifer Brodsky and Laura Darken, also sophomores. The essays by these young writers were chosen from more than 200 entries from high school students of all grade levels in Novato. |

Thanks to the 120 parents, coaches, teachers and staff that had a fun night at Margaret Todd Center at Casino Night!. The live auction, silent auction and raffle were all a big success and we thank over 100+ businesses that contributed to make our event a success. Check back here next week and we will have the final numbers on how much we raised for San Marin Sports Teams! Special thanks to Patty Gorman and Julie and Andrew Vavuris for pulling this event together as well as a number of parents who helped with decorations, business solicitations, card dealing, food serving, you name it .... it was a fun night!! San Marin Drama presents Jane Eyre
The award winning San Marin Drama Department will present Charlotte Bronte's fascinating story, Jane Eyre, adapted for the stage by Willis Hall,on May 6,7,9, 13, 14, 16 at 7:30 pm. This story filled with mystery, romance and suspense will keep you on the edge of your seat. Published in 1847, under the pen name of Currer Bell, (women were not supposed to write books back then) Charlotte Bronte's book was an instant success and continues to be. Many versions of the book have been made into movies. The latest Jane Eyre movie premiered in March 2011. The book is no longer taught in most high schools.San Marin Drama Teacher, Linda Kislingbury said, "It's the book that gave me my lifelong love of reading. I bought 18 copies of the book for my advanced drama class and many students have told me they can't put it down.I am donating the copies to the English department after the play."

FACEBOOK BOOT CAMP FOR PARENTS Wednesday, April 27th - 7PM
This workshop will provide parents with "hands-on" training in Facebook to provide guidance in setting rules for postings, understanding privacy settings and sharing appropriate information. This workshop will be held on April 27, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the Marin County Office of Education. There is limited space available and we recommend that you register quickly to reserve a seat. Pertussis Booster (Tdap) - Proof required

Please turn in Tdap immunization records to the school office NOW in order for students in 7-12 grades to avoid exclusion from school August 24, 2011. Class schedules will be held and students will not be allowed to attend school unless they show proof of Tdap immunization.

SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM - June 20 - July 29
The Summer Internship Program provides a 6-week intensive career exploration opportunity for students to gain hands-on workplace skills while learning about a particular career of interest. Students intern 9 hours per week with a local business or organization and work closely with a mentor supervisor. The summer program also includes a Career Management class. Internship applications are now available in the College and Career Center .

Kaiser Permanente L.A.U.N.C.H Program

IT Training Internship for Graduating Seniors
Free IT Training for 18-24 year olds who live in the DC, MD, or VA, Providence, Boston, New York City, Atlanta, San Francisco Bay Area. Any one with a high school diploma or a GED who are between the ages of 18-24 yrs old and have an interest in IT Refer them to this sitehttp://www.yearup.org/to learn more about this free program. This program asks for a 1 year commitment between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:00 pm. They provide the student with a stipend and after six months, internships at companies such as Freddie Mac and AOL to name a few. Check out the website. www.yearup.org Year Up is a one-year, intensive training program that provides urban young adults 18-24, with a unique combination of technical and professional skills, college credits, an educational stipend and corporate apprenticeship. Success of their graduates -- enabling them to move on to full-time employment and higher education Year Up is about providing opportunities for urban young adults to demonstrate their true potential. We have achieved excellent results to date: · 100% placement of qualified students into apprenticeships · 83% student retention · 90% of apprentices meet or exceed apprenticeship partner expectations · 87% of graduates placed in full or part-time positions within 4 months of graduation · $15/hr average wage at placement
Marin Conservation Corp is looking for students to work this summer!
You must be 15 by the start of the program, but not have attained age 19 by the end of the program. Have a desire to work in the outdoors and become involved in the development and maintenance of the nation's national resources.
