What an exciting week! Congratulations to Coach Pitti and the Varsity Boys Basketball team winning the first NCS Basketball Championship in school history (43 years)!  An estimated 1200 San Marin/Novato fans attended the game on Saturday at St. Mary's College and watched an exciting historic game!!   

This week is full of activity including our hosting a CIF State Tournament Basketball game, Winter Sports Awards night, College and Career center events, and don't forget the Senior Fashion Show!!  Details on these and other events are listed below...

NCS Success - Continues!

 

Basketball -  Congratulations to our boys Varsity basketball team!!  After defeating #1 seed Bishop O'Dowd in our gym on Wednesday night, the Mustangs and 1200 supporters made the the trip over to St. Mary's college in Moraga and defeated the #2 see El Cerrioto Gauchos (47-44) to capture our first Basketball NCS Championship pennant!  The road is not finished for the Mustangs as they are now in the CIF State tournament. The team awaits the winner of the Center vs. Paradise High School game on Tuesday and will host the winner this Thursday at San Marin.  Stay tuned for details!

WINTER SPORTS AWARDS TONIGHT - 7PM - San Marin Gym 

 

San Marin Athletics Department and Sports Boosters welcome parents, family and friendsAward to celebrate the athletic and scholastic achievements of our student/athletes from the Winter 2010-2011 season.  Teams and individuals award winners will be celebrated and recognized for their achievements.

COLLEGE OF MARIN ORIENTATION: Tuesday, March 8th @ 10AM  

College and Career Center.  

 

Seniors interested in attending or even exploring College of Marin for the fall semester should attend the orientation. An academic counselor will be here to speak to you about the programs, placements test and application for College of Marin. Sign up in the College and Career Center or on ConnectEDU. The following week they will also be on campus to provide placement testing for the interested students. The testing will be in the library on Tuesday, March 14th beginning at 12:30 pm.

INTERESTED IN A HEALTH CARE CAREER?

 

YOUTH HEALTH FORUM - March 18th at Kaiser Permanente - 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Students interested in healthcare professions learn firsthand from doctors, nurses, and other hospital professionals about possible career paths and opportunities. Applications are available in the College and Career Center. The deadline to apply is THIS WEDNESDAY, March 9th

Music - Calendar of eventsSanMarinMusic

San Marin Music is presenting Oklahoma! on March 25th-27th & April 1st - 3rd  (8 PM on Fri & Sat; 2 PM on Sun).  Tickets are $8 if purchased in advance, $10 at the door, and will go on sale on starting TODAY Monday, March 7th Tickets are purchased at San Marin High School front office.  Don't put it off and make your plans to purchase your tickets early as this musical will definitely be a sell out!   
 
NUSD DISTRICT/ ADMINISTRATION NEWS
SAN MARIN OPEN HOUSE - March 17th - 6PM  
  Please join us on Thursday March 17th for our annual Open House event. You will have an opportunity to stop by and learn about what is happening at San Marin High School. Each department will be in a separate room (see flyer attached) so you will have a chance to learn more about our faculty and see the interesting things our students are doing in their classes, as well as learn about what San Marin has to offer your child. Please remember that this is not a time for parent/teacher conferences. You may drop by at your convenience any time between 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm.

Current San Marin families as well as incoming 8th grade families are welcome to attend.   
 
"HEADS UP" - Concussion Safety Forum - March 23rd - 5PM  
 

Marin County Office of Education, in partnership with MCAL, MSNO, 16th District PTA and Marin Brain Injury Network, are providing an opportunity on March 23rd from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for parents and educators to learn more about this topic and participate in the "Heads Up" forum. This will be an opportunity for all to understand what a concussion is, what to do if a child has hit their head, what the schools currently do in these situations, what are current best practices for handling, what is current legislation and more.  

 

Dr. Eric Scher, MD, local pediatrician and pediatric Hospitalist for Sutter Health, Marin General will be the lead presenter, in addition to the Marin School Nurses Organization, Marin County Athletic League and the Marin Brain Injury Network.

Why 21st Century Girls need 21st Century Parenting - March 19th    

The Marin Women's Commission presents this seminar on Saturday March, 19th from 9:30AM to 12PM at the Town Center Community Room in Corte Madera.

Annie Fox, M.Ed. helps parents get clear on their true parenting role so that they can give their daughters what they need for healthy social/emotional development in middle school and beyond.

CALLING ALL STUDENT ARTISTS!! - School Fuel's 7TH Annual Art Smart Showcase is Coming This March!!

 

School Fuel and Northbay ArtWorks present their 7th annual student art show -- Art Smart Showcase 2011.  Now is the time for students to create something for the show, or find a special work that they would like to put on display for the community at a local, professional art gallery. The main objective is to present the creativity and talent of our students and highlight the importance of artistic outlets and art education.  Student creative works of visual art, poetry and music are all encouraged.  Student artwork may be created at or outside of schooll.  We request that art submissions are not to have been shown in a previous Art Smart Showcase. Fireworks

 

All student works must be accompanied by a permission slip available at www.northbayartworks.com or www.novatoschoolfuel.org. Selected works will also move to the NUSD administration building and remain on display throughout April and returned to students after.  Submission deadline is Friday, March 4th.  All submissions can be dropped off at school front offices or Northbay ArtWorks. Show will run March 18 through March 27 at Northbay ArtWorks, 7049 Redwood Blvd. Suite 208  (near the Fire Station).  Show gallery hours are Fridays from 4 to 7pm, Saturdays & Sundays from noon to 4pm. An Artist's Opening Night Reception featuring live student performances will be on Friday, March 18th from 4pm to 7pm.
