For He [God] hears the cry of the afflicted
(Job34:28b)
As I sat out under the stars my mind began to ponder all the changes that have occurred this past year. My husband and I recently sold our home of 20 years in Illinois which was quite an emotional time for us.We've shared many years of fond family memories in the peaceful little country area in Effingham, IL.
A year ago April, I started at the Eden Clinic and two weeks ago my husband retired from a 30 year career in mechanical engineering. Relocation and lot's of change... mmm, hard!
It has been a long and strange journey in this process of relocation. But, I have to say that there is absolutely no doubt in either of our minds that God has been with us this entire journey. It was no accident when the Eden Clinic needed an experienced executive director that I, an experienced executive director, just happened to come to Midwest City, OK looking for a job. Not a coincidence.
When I consider all the people involved in this ministry from board governing to client advocates to fundraising, volunteers and church support I cannot help but conclude...
" Wow God, you must really love these young women who find themselves in unplanned pregnancies. You must really care about precious unborn children to orchestrate such awe-inspiring resources for them. Although they may never know it, you hear their lonely cries of fear in the nighttime. You understand their feelings of rejection when the father of their unborn child walks away. You have heard their prayers and set a plan in motion to help them in their time of great need. You are answering their prayers when you send them to the Eden Clinic."
My thoughts turn into prayers as I ponder all this; that God would grant us the ability to be his hands and feet and give us the opportunity to let these young women learn that they are not here by accident; God heard their prayers and loves them dearly!
Never doubt that all the work, time, prayer and monies YOU put into this ministry is an answer to a young woman's prayer to a God she may not know; but one who has a plan for her to know Him through an unforeseen, unplanned pregnancy.
Faces come to mind... faces like *Christy, who saw no hope for her future, nor could she even consider carrying her baby to term. She admittedly fought alcoholism and drug addiction through the many drug rehab programs she attended. How could she be a good mom? Abortion was her only real option! Oh, but that's not what God says... She came to the Eden Clinic and has chosen to carry her baby to term, has found friends to support her and hope for her future. And now she wants to know more about the wonderful God who sent her here!
I am reminded of the scripture verse that says...
"You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives (Gen.50:20NIV)."
If you would like to support young women like Christy, you can easily do so at I will support the Christy's at Eden!
