| Greetings! | |
Life is messy, mysterious and miraculous. No matter how much we try to plan our lives, the truth of the matter is that we ultimately have little control. We cannot know what tomorrow will bring, nor can we predict our futures. Of course we know we have autonomy with the wonderful gift of choice, initially given to us from God. Many of the clients we see at the Eden Clinic have given little thought to God, his existence and what that might mean to their lives and futures. It doesn't really sink in that the choices they make about their pregnancy will affect the rest of their lives. In light of this fact, the important questions that need to be answered are "What are my choices?" and "What are the consequences of those choices?"
In my experience as director in the pregnancy center venue I have had people ask how an unplanned pregnancy and sharing the good news of the Gospel can possibly work together. It may seem like an awkward time in the midst of a crisis pregnancy to talk about such things. On the contrary, it is the most opportune time because many of the young women we encounter at the Eden Clinic see little or no hope in their circumstances. Given the messages from our culture, i.e. its your body so you have the right to choose abortion, etc., etc. causes confusion and makes it difficult for women to make the best possible choice.
What better time to offer a spiritual intervention, and introduce Jesus Christ who wants to be a personal life coach to every individual. He can be a source of help that is like no other. For he only has their best interest at heart. Does that mean the choice will be easy? No. Does it mean the choice will be painless? No. What it does mean is that God will walk alongside them, making his love real and personal, and giving them the strength needed to walk through the crisis that will ultimately lead to a better life rather than bitter life.
Take for instance *Amy. Amy is very young and pregnant for the 7th time. She was strongly considering abortion for the 2nd time. She came to the Eden Clinic for an ultrasound to learn how far along she was. At some point during the conversation we began to talk about God; how asking him for help could be beneficial to her and that he could be her personal life coach. She had never connected the fact that God cared about ALL her choices and that she has eternal value. She accepted Christ into her life that day and asked him to guide her and be her life coach. Please be praying with us for Amy that this first step toward Christ will lead to more steps IN Christ as she looks to him for guidance. Linda *Name Changed

| NEW 4D ULTRASOUND | |
There's been quite a buzz going on at the Eden Clinic these past couple weeks with the training and use of our new 4D ultrasound machine. And Spence Wimer, Alison's father has purchased a large HDTV flat screen to complete the package. He's in the process of installing it on the wall in the ultrasound exam room for our pregnant clients to easily and comfortably view their baby while lying on the exam table. What an awesome tool!
We are so grateful to the anonymous donors who so graciously gave toward the purchase of this machine and to Mr. Wimer for his generous heart.
Below is a picture of our volunteer sonographer, Rebeeca Thurston performing an ultrasound (using our new machine) on a patient who is 16 weeks pregnant.
