Welcome to the July issue of the BASS Chamonix & Parallel Dreams e-newsletter.

Wow, there is so much going on just now its hard to know where to begin!! I have just returned from delivering a BASI course in Saas-Fee and will be returning there next weekend to deliver an IASI Level 2 course.

Preparations for BASS Megeve are going well and the first e-news for this exciting new venture will be sent out in August.

We have recently signed an historic agreement with the Irish Association of Snowsports Instructors (IASI) meaning we will be running Level 1 & Level 2 courses in Chamonix in addition to IASI's own programme. Please read our featured article to find out more.

Our autumn courses at Hemel Snowcentre are all set up for October so please get in touch to book your place.

We are introducing a new French language training course for seasonaires and instructors this season.

Also Shona has been working hard on the PD Vault and the Parallel Dreams web site and changes should be complete by the end of the month. The PD Vault has got new content including some excellent video footage giving you ideas for summer training for snowsports.

And Shona did jump out of a plane with the red devils on the 10th of July to help raise money for Disability Snowsport UK. Many thanks to everyone who supported this.

LCP Agreement for BASS Chamonix & Parallel Dreams

BASS Chamonix Limited is delighted to announce an exciting new development for the 2009/10 season in collabration with the Irish Association of Snowsports Instructors (IASI).

BASS Chamonix Limited will now be organising and running IASI Level 1 and Level 2 Alpine Ski Instructor courses in Chamonix via the Licensed Course Provider (LCP) agreement. These courses will be marketed and run via Parallel Dreams the instructor training arm of BASS Chamonix Limited.

This is a natural development for BASS Chamonix & Parallel Dreams given our involvement with IASI and with helping ski instructors develop their performance.

Parallel Dreams Performance Courses Autumn 2009 @ Hemel Snow Centre

Friday 2nd of October & Saturday 3rd of October

These full day courses are ideal for developing your performance in preparation for the 2009/10 winter season. Whether you wish to build your confidence, improve technical aspects of your skiing, learn specific drills to develop your skills for all mountain skiing we will help you to achieve your goals.

These days are aimed at skiers ranging in ability from intermediate skiers wishing to gain confidence to advanced skiers wanting to develop their skills and get ready for next winter and skiers taking their instructor exams.
The course will include the following topics (based on the book "Parallel Dreams Alpine Skiing");
Basic Principles of Skiing; Balancing & Movements and Mechanics of Skiing. In essence this means learning about forces and how to respond and create them, the movements
that you can make and how this will affect your balance (fore/aft and lateral) in either a positive or negative way and how to steer your skis to produce fluently linked curves.
We will also use video to help you understand how you are performing and how to improve.
