Did you know?
The BASS Megeve web site is now fully online and we are taking bookings for season 2009/10.

Megeve is right in the heart of the Evasion Mont Blanc region which includes resorts like St.Gervais and Les Contamines.

Greetings!
Welcome to the June issue of the BASS Chamonix & Parallel Dreams e-newsletter.

This month we are focusing on some of the great courses that we have lined up starting with our "Parallel Dreams Performance Courses" at the new Snow Centre at Hemel Hempstead. Please read on to find out all the details.

I hope that you are enjoying the summer wherever you are and we look forward to continuing to help you achieve your goals in snowsports.

Parallel Dreams Performance Courses Autumn 2009 @ Hemel Snow Centre

Friday 2nd of October & Saturday 3rd of October

These full day courses are ideal for developing your performance in preparation for the 2009/10 winter season. Whether you wish to build your confidence, improve technical aspects of your skiing, learn specific drills to develop your skills for all mountain skiing we will help you to achieve your goals.

These days are aimed at skiers ranging in ability from intermediate skiers wishing to gain confidence to advanced skiers wanting to develop their skills and get ready for next winter and skiers taking their instructor exams.
The course will include the following topics (based on the book "Parallel Dreams Alpine Skiing");
Basic Principles of Skiing; Balancing & Movements and Mechanics of Skiing. In essence this means learning about forces and how to respond and create them, the movements
that you can make and how this will affect your balance (fore/aft and lateral) in either a positive or negative way and how to steer your skis to produce fluently linked curves.
We will also use video to help you understand how you are performing and how to improve.

Mountaineers Performance Alison backcountryCourses
So successful over the last two years they have been running.  Co-ordinated by Alison Culshaw, she has taken Mountaineers who have only just put touring equipment on to reaching success in passing their Alpine Skiing element of the Guide programme, a testament to her dedication and skills and experience in all areas of Skiing/Ski Touring/Mountaineering/Climbing.  A course not to be missed if you are a Mountaineer at heart. Backcountry Courses   Dee in powder
These 6 day courses are our most popular here in Chamonix.  The course time is shared with one of our Elite Instructors and a Mountain Guide. The skills you will be given will be tailored to your level of experience, the courses run as level 1 (Beginner), 2 (Intermediate) & 3 (Advanced).  A fantastic opportunity to learn both the skiing & the mountain skills. Disability Snowsport UK
The 10th of July is fast approaching and I would just like to remind everyone that I will be "JUMPING OUT OF A PLANE WITH THE RED DEVILS" to help raise money for Disability Snowsport UK. It is the Skier & Boarder's Charity and is the official charity of the British Association of Snowsport Instuctors (our Instructor Members Association).  Recently BASI & DSUK supported The Crystal Holidays Challenge event in Mayrhofen in Austria and that is where this idea all came together.

Sir Steve Redgrave is heading up the team which also includes Alain Baxter (British Olympic Athlete), Andrew Lockerbie (BASI Chairman and part time instructor for us here at BASS Chamonix), Gareth Roberts (BASI Alpine Director) and many BASI Trainers and Staff from BASI, DSUK and Crystal Holidays.

If you have already supported us then THANK YOU. There is still time to make a donation however large or small would be fantastic.
