New vendor Labncroft Berry Farm is sure to brighten your morning.  The family farm has been in operation in Veedersburg since 1941, and they were one of the original vendors at the downtown city market.  They believe strongly in and follow a chemical growing process.

Balsamic Strawberry Salsa

 Southern Living, April 2002

This make-ahead recipe is great break from the ordinary.  For an added twist, try using your favorite infused balsamic vinegar from Artisano's.   We like the white peach, but blueberry or pomegranite balsamic sound like tasty options too.

Ingredients:

6 tablespoons olive oil

2 tablespoons white balsamic vinegar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 pint fresh strawberries, coarsely chopped

8 green onions, chopped

2 pints cherry tomatoes, chopped

1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro

Directions:

Whisk together first 3 ingredients in a large bowl; add strawberries and remaining ingredients, tossing to coat. Chill at least 1 hour. Serve with tortilla chips.

Yield:  6 cups

Food For Thought Exhibit, June 12

The Indiana Humanities Council will display a portion of the Food for Thought traveling exhibit, which will feature a historical and contemporary look at Indiana's food culture. The entire exhibit will travel across the state to attend Indiana's fairs and festivals. Visitors will have the opportunity to see, touch, taste, and hear about food through artifacts, images, hands-on learning tools, and an oral history booth.
