Greetings!
WELCOME to both our returning and new vendors for the 2010 season. In anticipation of the first Market on May 1, we will be sending out a copy of the Market Map early next week. Most returning vendors will be assigned to their 2009 spots, but there will be a few changes. We will be repainting the numbers on the parking lot, so your spot should be easy to find. Please print a copy of the map and bring it with you on May 1. For new vendors, each space has numbers painted on the pavement either side of that space.
GOOD NEWS! Broad Ripple Magnet High School for the Arts & Humanities has approved the Market to use ONE WAY traffic to enter (from Compton Street on the west) and exit (to 61st Street on the south). We will have new signs at both ends and parking volunteers to help folks get used to the new traffic flow. In addition, the school's administrators are allowing us to use the parallel parking spaces along the north side of the football field, as well as all of the administration and loading dock parking. We will be putting additional burlap bags over the weekday signs and adding signage that indicates that customers may park there. We will be creating a parking map for customers and communicating heavily in the BRFM newsletter.
- Reminder: Vendors, vendor staff, and volunteers may not park in the school parking lot or along the entrance and exit drives during Market hours. When these parking spots are filled by vendors and volunteers, that means fewer spots are available for customers. Parking Volunteers will be monitoring and leaving reminders and parking maps on the vehicles of offenders.
NEW MARKET HOURS AND SET UP RULES (as established by the BRFM Vendor Committee)
- All vendors must be in their assigned spaces no later than 7:30 a.m. each Market day. Vehicles are not permitted down the Market's "Main Street" after 7:30 a.m. Vendors who arrive after 7:30 must set up along the North end of the Market, near the high school, and check in at the BRFM Information Booth, so that we can advise custoers about about where they can find those vendors who arrived late. Repeat offenders may lose their space assignments for the season.
- Vendors who are set up with price signage in place may begin selling at 7:30 a.m.
- The market will now remain open until 12:30 p.m. to accommodate growing crowds that arrive after 11:30 a.m.
- Vendors need to provide as much advance notice as possible for absences from the Market, so the volunteers and customers can be notified of same, preferably in the newsletter the previous Thursday. Please notify the Market Master by email at bwilder@mdwise.org and/or by phone at 317-259-4193. If I receive your notice by email, I will confirm receipt, and you won't need to call. In all cases, please call rather than email if it's after 5 p.m. on the Friday prior to the next morning's Market.
HEALTH DEPARTMENT LICENSE Carol Ryan of the Marion County Health Department will be sending your license directly to you.
MARKET SAFETY All vendors using canopies or umbrellas must bring adequate weightseach week to prevent injury in the event of significant wind. The recommended weight for canopies is 26 lbs. on each corner. Weights are available commercially or are easily made with PVD pipe and cement. Volunteers will be checking to be sure all vendors have weights for their canopies.
THE MARKET WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL NOVEMBER 20, 2010, the weekend before Thanksgiving.

SPECIAL GUEST VENDORS FOR 2010

Speciall guest vendors will have signage that clearly identifies them as guests and indicates when the regular vendor for that space will begin or return to the Market. These vendors will be identified in the newsletter each week since they will not be regular vendors. A list of Special Guest Vendors for Opening Day will be sent along with the Market Map late this week or early next week.
