Vickie HeadshotWe've all got the same problem, we're on information overload every day. To help our clients get the most from "Avoid Collateral Damage" we've broken it down into four areas of interest so you can quickly scan for information that is pertinent to you, your company or organization.

1. graphic design & branding

3. self-publishing solutions
4. speakers' essentials

We hope this helps you navigate more quickly!

LogoDistortIf you're making your own letterhead in Microsoft Word or another layout program and plan to print it out on your desktop printer, be careful that you import your company's logo into the document proportionally. It's easy if you just remember to hold down the SHIFT key whenever you scale your graphics. This will retain their intended proportion and integrity.

The top example is a great logo we designed for APEX National Decorators. If they aren't careful when scaling it in their documents, their logo could look end up looking like the bottom example which has been stretched out of proportion horizontally. Scaling without holding the SHIFT key could dramatically change the look of their logo, and distort the composition proportion that we've worked hard to develop. The smart folks at APEX know better than to do this, but many other people might not. So, be extra careful when scaling your graphics and avoid distorting your company's logo.

How often should I send out my email marketing?

CC LOGOHere's the deal, it all depends on your relationship with your customers and the information you are providing. Early on in a relationship, a customer may feel imposed upon if the communication is too often. But, after the relationship is stronger and the customer is tuned in to your offerings and information, you may be able to connect more often and your communication will be most welcomed.

DGardnerOneSheetWant your one-sheet to set you apart from other speakers?

Professional speaker Deborah Gardner fell in love with a one-sheet she picked up at an international conference and asked us to create hers utilizing some of the unique qualities from the one she'd seen. Instead of a typical 8.5 x 11 sheet, Deborah's new 2-sided, full color one-sheet is 5.5 x 8.5. And, to really make it unforgettable, Deborah's new one-sheet is now 16 pt. card stock with UV coating on both sides. It's gorgeous to look at and feels like a million bucks. That's just how Deborah wanted meeting planners to remember her!

What's the impression you're leaving when you share your one-sheet? Does it highlight your uniqueness? Does it really pique interest? Think out-of-the-box to be remembered, just like Deborah.

Word Tripper
by Barbara McNichol

Perseverance vs. Persistence

"Perseverance" is
used favorably to imply continuing an activity or purpose despite difficulties.

"Persistence" is
used to suggest unremitting, even annoying continuance of an effect.

Despite the mountain climber's perseverance in the face of exhaustion and frostbite, the persistence of blizzard conditions kept him from reaching the summit.
