Dear Reader:

It's been close to three months since we've communicated...... We've been busy trying to help the many of you who have been victims of the industry's latest "downsizing".

These days we feel more like a candidate outplacement firm rather than recruiter.

However, there are signs of optimism out there:   Housing sales have started to pick up in some areas...economic indicators are not all as negative as seen during the last 6 months.....many of you are reporting good June bookings as the 2009 Movers' Busy Season officially begins.

As the country's most-recognized name in recruitment and staffing services exclusively for the Moving & Storage Industry, we too are optimistic: Demand for sales candidates is on the rise.  Why we've even received a couple of job orders last week to fill some General Management positions.

More and more movers are attempting to better position themselves for when the U.S. economy does finally turn the corner and kick into high gear.

Here's hoping that the economic tide rises for everyone.

Now, with three month's worth of information scattered all over our desk, it's time to get to the fun part....

Sincerely,

Mark Gray

BAD NEWS....We will miss you:  TROWBRIDGE MOVING, a fixture in the Columbus OH market since 1892, is closing shop........

As stated in our opening, even though many movers are seeing solid advanced bookings for this month, one of our industry "ears" has told us that most of his mover customers are reporting June bookings being down 20% compared to last year......Our source also states that the worst part is that many movers aren't venturing a guess as to what July, August and September may (or may not) bring.......On the brighter side, there is activity on the military moving side (with the exception of those who handle Naval Bases as the Navy has put a moratorium on 12,0000 of their moves for this year)....International business seems to be holding its own.....
