Movers Search Group's
Special Fall 2007 Recruiting Issue
Dear HHG and Relocation Professionals:
Fall is here and the traditional Moving and Storage Industry's "Busy Season" has come to an end. The downturn in the housing/mortgage market has impacted many of you.
With residential real estate markets slowing to a standstill, we see moving companies breaking down into two entirely different camps:
1) Companies who are "retrenching"...cutting payroll, downsizing and hoping to weather the economic storm; OR
2) Aggressive agents who see these times as an opportunity to grow. These movers are looking to upgrade their staff and yes, add new players in an effort to position themselves to take advantage of the time when the economy once again picks up.
Many of our clientele who are firmly positioned in the second category are inundating us with staffing requests for all types of positions nationwide. As you will see in this special Recruiting Issue, there are more employment opportunities in your industry than one would normally expect during these difficult times.
In view of the foregoing, this month's issue will simply delineate the open positions for which we are presently recruiting. Our regular "Heard On The Street" column and other monthly features will reappear next month....we're just too busy recruiting to do much else at the present time.

JOB SEEKERS:
Seeking a new challenge? Have you been "downsized"? Looking to accellerate your professional growth track?
Before you submit your resume to a professional recruiter, consider this: Are you pricing yourself out of a job? What do we mean by this?....Listen up....
Utilizing the services of a professional recruiter who specializes in serving your industry (The Moving Industy) is a good idea. These firms know the business, understand the client's needs and can speak their language. As a HHG goods "headhunter", we are privvy to inside information concerning confidential and "unadvertised" openings in your line of work. We have developed relationships with the proper hiring authorities and can cut through the red tape of the application process and get your name and resume directly in front of the people who matter. Don't submit a resume through a mega internet job board....it often gets lost in the shuffle. All of this is good for you, the job seeker. However, by utilizing the "wrong" recruiting firm, you can effectively price yourself out of the job market.
Read our article (to the right) that is addressed to Hiring Authorities. In there we state how many recruiters are overcharging their clientele. Think about this from YOUR perspective....that of the candidate trying to get an interview and job offer. If you "hire" a recruiter to market you, a recruiter who charges their clients 20 to 30% of your first-year salary, you may price yourself out of the job market!
Let's say you're a strong GM candidate looking for a base salary of $80,000 plus benefits. If your recruiter is charging 25% as their fee, your potential employer is looking at paying not only your salary (and ALL of the other incidentals that go into the hiring process), but in addition to that, a recruiting fee of $20,000! In the case of most moving companies (particularly in light of today's bad HHG economy), you just lost an opportunity to get hired.
The same holds true for most any salaried position in the moving industry. Movers are becoming more and more reluctant to pay high fees and this effectively blocks you from getting hired.
Not so with Movers Search Group. We charge flat fees for many positions. When we market candidates to clients who have NOT given us a job order for a specific position, often we negotiate an even lower fee. Salespeople and CSR's are marketed and recruited at a fee that comes out to a dollar amount that is even lower than 15%...our standard maximum fee for all other positions.
There is a reason other recruiters don't publish their fees on their websites and don't mention their fees to candidates such as yourselves....now you know why.
Open more doors. Don't put yourself in a position where you are denied an opportunity to interview because unbeknownst to you, your recruiter has overpriced you from the start: ASK YOUR RECRUITER WHAT THEIR FEE IS BEFORE YOU AGREE TO LET THEM REPRESENT YOU.

| HIRING AUTHORITIES:
Consumer Advisory
Times are tough. Worries over the sorry state of the housing market are a legitimate concern for the Moving and Storage Industry. In a business where profit margins are traditionally thin, economic indicators point to almost anorexic conditions in the forseeable future!
Here's the dilemma:
You still need to hire good people. Strong managers, productive salespeople and competent and efficient support staff are more important to your bottom line than ever before! Given this, why utilize the services of a professional recruiting firm that wants to charge you anywhere from 20 to 30% of the candidate's first-year salary as their fee? Is it cost effective to spend $10,000 or more for a COD Sales Rep? $20,000 or more for a strong General Manager? $8,000 for a move coordinator? Of course it isn't. However, these are normal fees for most of the recruiters professing to "serve" the HHG industry these days.
We respectfully ask you to consider a reasonable alternative: MOVERS SEARCH GROUP. With close to 14 year's experience, our company is the country's most recognized name in professional recruitment and staffing for the HHG Industry. We want to serve the Movers of America, not fleece them.
Our maximum fee is 15%. We offer flat fees for such positions as Salespeople and CSR/Move Coordinators; fees that average somewhere around 12 to 13%. If we market a candidate to you, our fee is even less.
Before you sign an "exclusive" with one of our high-priced competitors, give us a call. We'll show you how the utilization of a professional recruiter can be cost effective. |
