Greetings Friends of Emergence Pictures!

Hope you are all enjoying this beautiful fall weather! After an intensely busy summer, it is nice to sit in a coffee shop and reflect on the past and look forward to some exciting events that we'd like you to be a part of.

This summer was full of travel and inspiration as I traveled to Galway, Ireland for the International Premiere of The Red Tail, while also working with some of our favorite clients, including the MN Council of Nonprofits and MAP for Nonprofits. We hope you will join us on November 5 and 6 at the MN Council of Nonprofits and MN Council of Foundations Joint Annual Conference. Emergence Pictures was honored to be selected again this year to create 6 videos to celebrate the award winners of Minnesota Nonprofit Awards of Mission and Excellence. Calling all MN Nonprofits and Foundations! Join us at this year's MN Council of Nonprofits and MN Council on Foundations Joint Conference on November 5 & 6. Emergence is a proud member of the MN Council of Nonprofits and will be there as an exhibitor, as well as presenting 6 videos of this year's MN Nonprofit Mission and Excellence Awards.

Every three years, the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits and Minnesota Council on Foundations come together to do a Joint Annual Conference, bringing nonprofits, grantmakers, businesses and government together. At this year's Joint Annual Conference, Transforming Our Work: From Challenging Times to Hopeful Futures, you'll assemble practical tools to transform your organization.

This fall I will be teaching two classes at IFP Minnesota on Documentary Filmmaking. IFP Minnesota is the Center for Media Arts that supports and promotes the work of artists who create screenplays, film, video, and photography in the Midwest. From novice to experienced media artists, IFP MN provides ongoing programs and services to ensure that your voice is seen and heard.

The two classes I'm teaching are Documentary Storytelling (one weekend workshop) and Producing a Documentary Film - Focus on Fundraising & Distribution.

Documentary Storytelling, October 24-25: How do you make a documentary film, let alone one that people will line up to see (besides your family!)? Documentary Storytelling covers all the basics, plus advanced tips for creating a compelling documentary.

Producing a Documentary Film - Focus on Fundraising & Distribution, Wednesdays, October 28-December 9 (no class Nov. 25):So you have a story idea, the technical and creative skills to make a documentary film, and perhaps have even done some shooting. What now? This intensive course focuses on the challenges and opportunities independent documentary film producers face in planning their fundraising and distribution strategies.

This issue, we are proud to introduce you to our client, Clean Water Action. This Organization of 1.2 million members works to empower people to take action to protect America's waters, build healthy communities and to make democracy work for all of us. For 36 years Clean Water Action has succeeded in winning some of the nation's most important environmental protections through grassroots organizing, expert policy research and political advocacy focused on holding elected officials accountable to the public.

This year we worked with Clean Water Action to create a video to play in Aveda Salons across the country during Aveda's Earth Month campaign. During this year's campaign a percentage of sales at Aveda Salons went to support Clean Water Fund. The challenge of this project was that it was to play on a loop and often with very little sound, so we had to rely almost entirely on visuals to get their message out!
