Desecrated Burial Sites Discovered by Pimicikamak
|
This is the first of two videos we received
produced by the Pimicikamak Cree Nation.
Watch them show and explain in their own
words the discovery of an ancestral burial
site that was unearthed by the erosion caused
by Manitoba Hydro's dam system. This is just
one story of countless discoveries, but what
makes this one unique is that it was
documented for the world to see on video and
now resides on You Tube!
Warning. This story contains images that
some may find disturbing.

Pimicikamak Call for Unity in Protecting Mother Earth
|
This is the second video handed to our crew
this spring by Chief John and the Pimicikamak
Nation. We are honored to present this video
to the world through You Tube. It is a
message of hope, unity, and strength amidst
their struggle with Manitoba Hydro and its
massive dam system.
Listen to the Pimicikamak community in their own words!

GGW Receives International Attention
|
Check out this Summer's issue of the Earth
Island Journal and read the review of
Green Green Water on page 55! Now
available on newsstands across North America
and to members of the Earth Island
Institute.
The Earth Island Journal has long been
recognized as a cutting-edge source of news,
analysis, and commentary on the vital
environmental issues of our day. Published
quarterly since 1987, the Journal has won
significant acclaim for its groundbreaking
and award-winning coverage.
Excerpt from the Earth Island Journal,
Summer 2007
"When New Orleans flooded in the aftermath of
Hurricane Katrina, it was called a natural
disaster. When South Indian Lake in northern
Manitoba flooded as
the result of a hydroelectric dam, it was
called progress.
There are other differences between the two
incidents, of course. One was an accident,
the result of an engineering flaw; the other
was "carefully" planned by engineers. One
drew the attention of national and
international media; the other has gone
virtually unnoticed in a part of the world
people rarely think about. . . . The footage
Mikkelson provides . . .is thoughtful,
heartbreaking, and sometimes stunningly
ironic . . ."
