Hearthstone of Minnesota

Building a Better World, One Kid at a Time.
Hearthstone 2

This month we'd like to introduce you to our client Hearthstone of Minnesota Hearthstone's mission is: To create a nurturing, stable, and culturally diverse family environment which encourages youth with emotional and behavioral disturbances to become effective, contributing adults.

This fall Emergence Pictures worked with Hearthstone of Minnesota to introduce two young men whose stories exemplify what Hearthstone is about. Hearthstone?s unique approach to serving troubled and at-risk adolescents makes significant change possible. Hearthstone accepts children who have often been refused by other service providers, or have bounced among numerous residential placements. Chris and Joe have both experienced things that would be difficult for most children to overcome, yet with the help of Hearthstone of Minnesota, they are thriving. Hearthstone is currently streaming this video on their website. Click here to hear their stories.

The video premiered at a breakfast benefiting Hearthstone of Minnesota on October 25. We hope you will take the opportunity to get to know Hearthstone, Chris, and Joe. They serve as a reminder of the power of good people doing good work to make the world a better place.

Thank you Hearthstone of Minnesota for your continued service in our communities!

November 30, 2006 @ 7pm
Bell Museum of Natural History
10 Church St. SE
Minneapolis, MN 55455
Driving and Parking Directions.

You are invited to a special screening of Green Green Water at the Bell Museum of Natural History, a film directed and produced by Emergence Pictures' Founder, Dawn Mikkelson. This screening is on the heels of an announcement by Xcel Energy that they wish to turn to hydroelectric power from Manitoba Hydro to make up for a future shortfall in power supply. This means customers of Xcel Energy will be using even more electricity generated by Manitoba Hydro, power sold as "green energy" to U.S. consumers that has adversely impacted the environment, as well as the Cree communities of Northern Manitoba. Check out the articles recently published by the Pioneer Press and Star Tribune.

A post screening panel, including Senator Scott Dibble (DFL), Ken Bradley of Fresh Energy, Dawn Mikkelson (Director of Green Green Water), and Jamie A. Lee (Co-Director/Editor of Green Green Water) will give the audience an opportunity to learn more about the issue, as well as the making of this important film. Following the screening there will be a post-show reception in the Bell Museum.

This screening is sponsored by the Bell Muesum of Natural History as part of their Science on Screen film program, U of M EcoWatch, Fresh Energy, and the U of M chapter of Amnesty Intnernational.

We hope you will join us on November 30 at 7pm at the Bell Museum!

Western Row in Historic Ramsey Hill

Western Row 3

This fall Emergence Pictures was commissioned by Kamper Brands to create a documentary-style video on Western Row for their client The Wall Companies.

Emergence's crew then spent a couple of the most beautiful days of this fall exploring the Historic Ramsey Hill neighborhood of St. Paul to highlight the home of the 34 condominium project, Western Row. With maticulous attention to detail, Western Row was designed to compliment the historic landscape of Ramsey Hill. Located in the heart of St. Paul, Ramsey Hill is immersed in the rich history and strong tradition of its grand Victorian homes.

Chatting with the owner of Nina's Coffee Cafe, the Zander Cafe, the President of The Wall Companies (John Wall), and residents of the Ramsey Hill neighborhood, the Emergence crew had a blast hanging out in the area that F. Scott Fitzgerald and now Garrison Keillor call home.

Check out our video for Western Row!

Emergence Pictures is known for its emotionally-charged and thought- provoking approach to storytelling through film and video. We believe that the power of film and video is in its ability to make a lasting impression on the head and heart and that is how we approach each new project.
