New postal rates effective 5/11/09
Cheers!
May 9, 2009
Greetings!
New postal rates effective 5/11/09
This is a reminder that the new postal rates go into effect May 11, 2009.  This is your last chance to buy your "Forever Stamps" for all of those first class cards and letters.

Seriously speaking - SMC is already working on next year's platform for rate advocacy.

SMC will be doing a survey to help us put together our rate and advocacy program for the year.

I am asking you in advance to make some time to complete and return the survey to us when you get it.  Last year we were able to achieve a very small increase in the piece rate and to avoid rate increases in the pound rate and DAL surcharge.  We are still fighting hard to get the Postal Service to approve simplified.

The voluntary contributions we received from our members, and the significant time and effort spent by SMC spokespersons and Steering Committee members helped us get the best annual rate adjustment possible from the USPS.

It is our goal to develop and present to the USPS a rate and operations advocacy program that meets the needs of our members.  You will probably get our survey within the next week.  Please take some time to answer it and help us represent all of you.
