| EM Receives Business Excellence Award |
On June 10th, the Elle Marie ownership team and our spouses attended a luncheon at the Mill Creek Country Club where we were honored to receive the HomeStreet Bank Business Excellence Award for 2008.  Five awards are presented yearly by the South Snohomish County Chamber of Commerce to businesses in specific size categories who exemplify the core values of the chamber organization.
"Each year the Chamber's HomeStreet Bank Business Excellence Awards spotlight businesses and organizations that exemplify the strength and leadership of the local business community," said Chamber President Jean Hales. "Our 2008 award recipients represent the economic breadth and the community resourcefulness of our region." Other recipients this year were Comcast, Community Health Center of Snohomish County, Community Transit, and Western Type & Print.
In her acceptance speech, Colleen touched on the joy of running a business with her children and ultimately expressed that the key to our success lies not only in the talents of our amazing stylists, but in the entire staff's focus on enjoying the journey and always having fun. |
| A Touch of Highlights |
- 5/08 - Colleen and Lorry were featured in the cover story in all editions of the Journal Newspaper. The article, which centered on mother and daughter-owned businesses, was the perfect story for Mother's Day. If you missed the story, visit our web site and follow the link to "Press".

- 6/1 - Lorry, Sarah, and Hollie attended an invite-only PureOlogy design show at the Palace Ballroom in Seattle exclusively for elite salons.
- Coming 10/08: Lorry will be attending the Redken 5th Avenue Exchange in New York City for a 3-day intense hands-on class.
- Coming 1/09: Buzz is building in the salon for the bi-annual Redken Symposium in Las Vegas. We recently discussed our goal to send the entire Elle Marie team. Wish us luck!

| EM Welcomes Elite Educator |
On May 4th Elle Marie played host as a number of stylists from around the northwest came to learn from one of the elite educators in the hair industry, Redken Global Artistic Director, Chris Baran.
The first part of the day was ripe with energy as Chris' fun, upbeat style kept attendees glued to his shears and blowdryer as he introduced the class to numerous cutting edge concepts. After lunch Chris introduced his latest cut, titled "New York", to the class. This chic new style couples the spirited look of a medium length bob full of body that slopes in accentuating the jawline with the sophistication of a longer, more elegant look as a layer of hair underneath drapes down along the shoulders.
It was an amazing class and we truly enjoyed our time with Chris. If you would like to see "New York" for yourself, we have mannequins from the class who are always excited to show off their fun new look.

| EM Welcomes Two New Faces |
This summer we are proud to announce the addition of yet another talented stylist to our team. Marissa joins the Elle Marie family  after gaining valuable experience as a top stylist at Mia & Maxx at the Alderwood Mall. She truly enjoyed her time there however felt it was time to take her training to another level by surrounding herself with a fresh team of stylists. The instant Marissa walked in our door we could tell she had an excellent sense of style. That, coupled with her friendly smile and desire to take her career to the next level made her the perfect fit for our team. If you'd like to book an appointment with Marissa, be sure to call the salon soon. Her appointment book is filling up quick!
We are also pleased to announce the addition of an Associate to our staff. Michele is currently earning hours at our salon towards her cosmetology license at Gene Juarez Academy. She plans to graduate very soon and will then become a full-time Elle Marie Associate supporting our Level III stylists. (Michelle is pictured above with Chris Baran.)

Due to the amazing interest in our So.Cap Hair Extensions line we will now be offering smaller 10-packs for our guests who simply wish to add a little more volume to short hair or perhaps a touch of color. | Meet Us In Mill Creek! |
 Elle Marie is thrilled to once again be participating in the greatest summer event in the northwest, the Mill Creek Festival. This year's event takes place July 12th and 13th from 11am-6pm with extended hours at the entertainment stage and beer garden behing La Palmera. The festival has been such a fun event for us, that Elle Marie's Marketing Manager, Jody Bossert, stepped up this year to serve as the Operations Director for the festival. Although it's been a lot of work, the opportunity to get to know the other volunteers, local business owners themselves, has been incredibly rewarding. The position has also brought with it the perk of helping identify a location for the Elle Marie booth. This year Elle Marie is excited to be setting up shop all alone on the landing in front of House of Bread. In our continuing effort to top our previous year's booth (remember our Bono impersonator?), we have some exciting things planned this year. With Jody pre-occupied with Ops planning, Hollie has stepped up to organize our booth this year and she's going all out. Be sure to stop by and see what she has in store!
