For example, several limited autograph sessions were held at Porsche Rennsport III at Daytona International Speedway earlier this month. Although we weren't able to attend (stuck in the tent again), we were able to acquire a copy of the official event poster that had been signed by more than 40 Porsche racers including Derek Bell, Hurley Haywood, Vic Elford, George Follmer, David Piper, Brian Redman, Vern Schuppan, and more. - JUST ANNOUNCED: Two 1/24 scale resin models have just been announced by LeMans Miniatures (part of the Spark/Minimax group). They are the 2007 LeMans winning Audi R10 TDi ($185.00) and a VERY Limited Edition release of the Porsche 917 Longtail driven by Vic Elford and Kurt Ahrens at LeMans in 1970 ($195.00). They took pole position and led early, but dropped out with mechanical problems. The Longtail will be released over the winter in a limited run of just 120 cars. - GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS: The word from
Ardennes Productions is that there has been
so much great original footage uncovered that
their
forthcoming release 'Can Am: The Speed
Odyssey' ($34.95) will be bigger
and better than first anticipated. The
finished product is likely
to run somewhere between 90 minutes and two
hours. The bad news - with all the editing
and extra work involved in making what we all
believe will be a documentary worthy of its
name, the release
date will have to be pushed back to
January 2008.We apologize to those of you who had made this the most anticipated DVD of the Holiday Season. But we also want to thank Ardennes Production for the time and effort they have put into this production.
