Welcome Back to Encinal
2012 - 2013
| |
Dear Encinal Families,
It's hard to believe that the beginning of school is just around the corner! We are excited for the upcoming year and all the adventures and opportunities a new school year brings. Please join me in welcoming our new Principal, Sharon Burns, and all the new students that will arrive at Encinal this year! This edition of our weekly newsletter is intended to give you important information to help you and your student(s) get ready for school and to let you know about a variety of ways that you can get involved and support your Encinal community throughout the year. Each week of the school year, parent volunteers from our PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) compile the newsletter with information about school events and information. I encourage you to stay informed and become involved with what is happening at the school so that all families feel connected to their child's school community. Enjoy the rest of your summer - there's still three weeks to go!
Katie Ferrick, PTO President ptopresident@encinalschool.com

Encinal Transportation Options Walk Bike Bus Car
| With over 750 students coming and going each day, Encinal School and the District recognize that the volume of motor vehicle traffic around our campus is a concern to our community. We are working proactively to plan for efficiency and safety and we highly encourage families to consider alternate means of arriving to and departing from school.
Please carefully review the different options and select a transportation strategy that is best for your family. If it is necessary to come to school by car, we encourage families to carpool with friends and neighbors. By carpooling, you can help reduce traffic around school and give yourself a break from driving to school each morning and afternoon.
For students in grades K-2, a Transportation Information Form is being mailed to you. It is required to be returned by mail or in person to Pam Garcia at the Encinal office by August 24. Mailing address: 195 Encinal Avenue, Atherton CA 94027. Questions? Email Pam at pgarcia@mpcsd.org.
Click here to review important information and instructions on our website including:
- Walking, Biking, and Scooters - Highly encouraged
- Buses and Shuttles - Info on routes, fees, registration, etc for District Bus, SamTrans, Tinsley Bus, and ASIST Shuttle to Laurel
- Afterschool Care - Burgess & Newton Center
- Car Pick-Up System- Pick-Up Lane card required in your window. Cards will be handed out at the Meet & Greet
- Parking - Find out where to park (and where not to park)

  Hot Lunch Program

Encinal School has a Hot Lunch service provided by Choicelunch supplying an incredible number of nutritious and delicious choices for lunch on a daily basis. You can review the monthly menu and order for as many or as few days as you want. If you use a credit card, you can order lunches up to 9am the school day before you want lunch. Please note there are no lunches available at school for cash. Visit the Choicelunch website to register using the code "Encinal." Click here for more information and to order. Remember to order lunches before 9am on August 31 to ensure delivery on the first day of school.
Free and Reduced Lunches are available to families who submit their application and are approved by the district. Click here to apply for free or reduced lunch.
|
While Choicelunch provides the food and drinks, it is set up and served to our students by Encinal parents. Volunteers are needed from 11:15am-12:30pm everyday! If you have the opportunity to help serve lunches in the first few days of school, or for ongoing monthly shifts, please email Kim Nguyen and Sue Leon at PTO Hot Lunch. Did you know? Lunch volunteers receive credit for a free lunch for every shift completed!

ENCINAL PTO & MPAEF Are Working Together to Support Our School
| |
Encinal PTO and the Foundation (MPAEF) are two vital organizations that make Encinal the special place that it is for our children. Your support of the PTO allows all of our kids to attend assemblies, go on field trips, and participate in enriching on-campus activities. Your support of the Foundation means that 31 teachers and specialists continue to teach in our four schools; our children participate regularly in music, art and library with credentialed specialists; and our teachers have their innovative programs funded.
All of this is possible because families like yours support the Encinal PTO and our Foundation.
Click here to donate to the Encinal PTO. The first 200 families who donate will receive a reusable Encinal shopping bag as a thank you gift!
Click here to donate to the MPAEF.
Families that donate to the PTO and pledge or donate to the MPAEF by September 28 will receive a magnet, showing that they support Menlo Park City Schools!
Got Corporate Matching? Parents - make your PTO Membership donation go twice as far. Consider a corporate match from your employer. Last year, Encinal PTO received over $10,000 from corporate matching programs! Do you work for Adobe, Amgen, Annual Reviews, Apple, CA Technologies, Cadence, Cisco, Genentech, Google, Intel, Intuit, Johnson & Johnson, Juniper, LAM Research, Macy's, Microsoft, Oracle, Salesforce.com, SAP, VISA, Wells Fargo Bank, or Yahoo -- all these companies have corporate matching programs with Encinal. Contact your HR Department for forms or on-line directions, or if your company is not listed, check with the HR department to find out if matching programs are available. Need help or have questions, please email ptomembership@encinalschool.com. Back to top |
