Dear Encinal Families:

Please take the time to vote and submit a Site Council election ballot by Thursday, May 3 at 5:00 pm. Click here for the ballot. The ballot includes the following impressive, thoughtful candidates: Becky Crowe, Susannah Hill, Lea Pence, Patty Pflaging and Gina Watkins. Your vote will assist us in selecting four parent representatives to serve a two year term on the Encinal Site Council from September 2012 - June 2014.

The Site Council is a representative group of parents and staff members charged with identifying and implementing curriculum and instructional practices that strengthen the academic program, and ensuring that all students have access to and success in that program.

Responsibilities include:

• Developing a school improvement plan and matching budget for using resources to increase learning
• Submitting the plan to the School Board for review and approval
• Communicating with the school and community regarding the plan
• Monitoring and updating the plan

Currently, the Encinal Site Council is in the process of reviewing student achievement, parent survey data, and staff input to guide goal setting for 2012-2013. Newly elected members will be announced in the May 6 PTO newsletter and introduced at the Site Council meeting on May 9, 2012 from 3:15-4:30 pm in the Encinal Library. Thank you.
