Dear Encinal Community,
Earlier today, Superintendent Ghysels shared the news that I will begin a new position as Chief Learning Officer in the Menlo Park City School District effective July 1, 2012.
Leading Encinal through its transition to a K-5 school over these last five years has been an honor and a joy. Visiting classrooms, I am awed by the curiosity and creativity of our "Encinal eagles" who remind us to reach for new possibilities each day. I am inspired by our professional and passionate team of staff members who collaborate to support the success of each student. Reflecting on our essential community partnerships, I am grateful for our generous and thoughtful parents whose ideas and support have been valued assets in defining Encinal as an exceptional school.
As I prepare for my transition, I will be collaborating with Jo Mitchell, Assistant Superintendent, to learn from her expertise, wisdom and outstanding leadership which have provided a strong foundation of excellence in the Menlo Park City School District. Throughout this winter and spring, I also look forward to implementing our site strategic goals to support the many exciting programs and initiatives planned for the remainder of this school year at Encinal. This month, we celebrate Cultural Arts Day on January 30 and the launch of the Advisory Program in fourth and fifth grade on January 31. Look for an update on these two events early next week.
I look forward to continuing to partner with you in my new role, and encourage your participation in the search for the next principal of Encinal School. With a dedicated and child-centered staff as well as strong, sustainable systems of teacher leadership in place, the incoming principal is poised to elevate Encinal School to new levels of excellence and ensure that it remains a wonderful place for students!
