Cultural Arts Day This Friday 6/10 Email us to volunteer for this memorable annual event
Encinal's third annual Cultural Arts Day is this Friday, June 10, and will last the entire school day. Students will be studying the Polynesian Islands and rotating through a series of learning stations all day. This will be a fabulous event!
Reminders for Parents
Please help make the day enjoyable for your students:
- Make sure your students apply sunscreen before school because they will be outdoors more than usual
- Have children wear shoes suitable for running on the field
- Students, staff and volunteers are encouraged to wear festive island attire. We recommend wearing bright colorful clothes. Girls can wear a flower in their hair. The kids will be making colorful paper leis to wear that day.
- Many more people than usual will be coming to campus. If your family can carpool, bike or walk to school you will avoid difficult parking
- If you must park near school on Friday, take care to park legally on Middlefield Rd and in the neighborhood outside of the restricted areas
Reminders for Volunteers
- Please sign in at the volunteer table by the front office 15 minutes before your shift begins.
- Enjoy the lunch that is provided for volunteers and staff!
- Dress in festive island attire. Bring a lei and wear a flower in your hair!
- Bring a camera if you would like and help take pictures of the event
- Questions: Contact committee chairs Erin Reyes (erinlreyes@gmail.com), Julie Pecson (julie.pecson@gmail.com) or Semisi Ix-Siu (ixsiutribe@gmail.com)
Lend a hand setting up on Thursday afternoon
If you are able to stay after school on Thursday we have several areas that need help with set up. Even if you can only stay for a little while that would be helpful! Children are welcome to stay too. Please show up in the office and we will tell you where to go.

Student Council Bake Sale This Saturday The Encinal Student Council is holding a Bake Sale at Encinal School on Saturday June 11 from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm in front of the school near the bike racks. If you wish to donate treat for the bake sale, please make two dozen of your best cookies, bars, etc., and turn them in either 30 minutes before the bake sale to the teachers lunch room or drop them off Friday, June 10, to the same location right after school. Be sure to cover them with plastic wrap and label them "bake sale" please. Whole pies or cakes are also welcome as some families may prefer to bring one home for a family or celebration. There is no need to let us know you will be donating to our event, just bring your treats to school. We are donating part of the money to a program called Free the Children in Africa! Check out their web site here. Thank you for your support of Student Council. Together we can make a difference! |
