A Big Thank You to the Cultural Arts Day Team!
Friday's 3rd Annual Cultural Arts Day was a fantastic school-wide event! It was a festive celebration of the cultures, arts, music, food, dance and traditions of Polynesian islands including Fiji, Tonga, Samoa and New Zealand.
We want to thank the CAD project chairs Erin Reyes, Semisi Siu and Julie Pecson for their tireless work and broad helpful smiles. They recruited a large team of volunteers whose contributions made the spirit of the event so memorable. Many hands make a wonderful Cultural Arts Day! Congratulations on the successful event! |
Congratulations to All the Wonderful Talent Show Acts The Encinal 4th and 5th graders who performed in this year's Encinal Talent Show provided the entire school with an entertaining day! This beloved annual event has provided years of fun and laughter and we look forward to next year's show already!

Learn More About Becoming an Academy Parent at Hillview

Interested in being an Academy Parent for your Hillview student for the 2011-2012 School Year? As an Academy Parent you would work on a team with other parents to assist the teachers in organizing celebrations, providing volunteers, forwarding school communications and helping with field trips. This role is similar to the Head Room Parent at Encinal, but is a much smaller time commitment since there are fewer parent participation programs in middle school.
If so, please email the Academy Parents Chairs. We'd love to have your participation in this program which provides support to our wonderful Hillview Teachers and our kids.
If you're child will be in
6th grade: please email Nancy Kessler at nancykessler@velcap.com
7th grade: please email Mary Ann Levenson at levensonfamily@sbcglobal.net
8th grade: please email Shari Conrad at sconrad@pacbell.net
An Academy Parent training session will be held on 8/25 at 8:45 in the Hillview Library. Please plan on attending one of these in order to be ready for Hillview's back to school night on 8/31. Academy Parent Teams will be finalized after children are placed in academies following Arena Check In.

Earn Lunch Credits by Volunteering for Hot Lunch
Yes, there is such a thing as a free lunch!
Encinal Hot Lunch Program starts the first day back at school and we need to recruit volunteers now.
You can choose to work every day or once a month, or anything in between. Each shift earns you a lunch credit with Choicelunch (and gives you a chance to see your little ones). Shifts are available Monday through Friday and run from 11:30 to about 12:30, serving students from K to 5th grade. Training will be provided (although it is not complicated).
New this year, Encinal and the rest of the district has signed up to the Federal School Lunch Program which, via Choicelunch, will allow those students on the Free and Reduced Lunch program to enjoy the same freshly prepared, nutritionally balance hot meal as their classmates.
Please contact Sharon Morgan to volunteer or get more information. Click here for details on Choicelunch. The new Hot Lunch Team is: Chair - Sharon Morgan, Assistant Chairs - Mimi Gardner and Kim Nguyen.
