Thursday set-up help
If you are able to stay after school on Thursday we have several areas that need help with set up. Even if you can only stay for a little while that would be helpful! Children are welcome to stay too. Please show up in the office and we will tell you where to go.

A few reminders to all parents as we get ready for the Polynesian Islands:
  • Dress up - We encourage everyone to dress up in island attire!  For the girls and boys we recommend wearing bright, colorful clothes. The girls can put a flower in their hair. Parent volunteers please feel free to dress up as well - wear a lei and add a flower in your hair!
  • Wear SUNSCREEN!!
  • Shoes - Wear comfortable athletic shoes.  You will be playing games and running on the field.
  • Lunch - Students should still bring their lunch or plan to do Hot Lunch as usual.
  • Please bike, walk or carpool!  There will be lots of folks helping out so parking will be tight.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact committee chairs Erin Reyes, Julie Pecson or Semisi Ix-Siu. Looking forward to a fun event!

Encinal Garden Is Blooming! Consider Pitching In

Garden Volunteers Needed!
Encinal kids love their beautiful school garden.  Be a part of this unique program -- gardeners and non-gardeners alike are needed for several garden volunteer opportunities in the 2011-12 school year:

Help with the Harvest Festival in September:
Our Harvest Festival theme next fall will be Native Americans and the Three Sisters crops of beans, corn and squash. We need 1-2 people to help with planning Native American and Three Sisters related activities for the festival in September, and 1 person to help organize the festival volunteers.

Garden Maintenance:
Help us with garden maintenance on your own time -- weekends or afternoons, just a few hours a month -- cleaning up, composting, and weeding in the garden.

If you are interested in finding out more about these positions, or other ways you can help in the garden, please contact Kristi Waldron.
Head Room Parents for Next Year
Contact the HRP Committee for information about HRP spots for next year.

HRP button
The PTO is looking for Head Room Parents (HRPs) for next year. Head room parents help organize classroom volunteers, plan parties, and generally help the teacher where needed. We're starting to plan, so please let us know if you're interested by contacting us. Thank you!  Please mark your calendar for HRP training on Tuesday, August 23 at 8:30am.
