As I walked through the breezeway in the apartment building, I could hear the voice of a female shouting obscenities. Her voice was easily overpowered by the thundering voice of her extremely mad, highly intoxicated boyfriend.
My heart was pounding and I was just a little on edge. The neighbors had called this in as a domestic disturbance in progress -the number one kind of call that takes the lives of cops every year. I was working district 143 that day so I was using that as my call sign. 143 was a usually passive district but for some reason, this call just seemed different.
As I walked closer, the full impact of the situation became clearer. The male had badly assaulted the female and was now setting his sights on me. This man stood all of nearly 7 foot tall and easily weighed in at 350 pounds. He looked fit, strong and very angry -not to mention that he was on parole which made me the reason he was heading back to the penitentiary.
I have to admit that even though I was very confident in my ability to handle myself in a situation like that, I was feeling just a little bit insecure in that exact moment. I called for help several times saying "143 to dispatch...143 to dispatch..." on my police radio, but I could not "hit the tower" meaning no one could hear me.
As the moments rushed forward, my insecurity began to get the best of me. I wanted to believe that my partner would be there for me like he had promised me so many times before, but in that moment, my insecurity lead me to believe that he wouldn't be there. I couldn't get him on the radio so I was sure that he was going to let me down. I felt so helpless and alone and very scared. It didn't matter how many times I tried to get my partner on the radio, it just wouldn't go through.
Out of frustration and fear, I decided to literally throw the radio out into the grass and just handle the situation on my own, sure that I had been let down by my partner. I reared back with the radio in my hand seconds from throwing it. Just then I heard the very familiar and comforting voice of my partner over my shoulder saying "143, I'm right here with you and I'm not going to let you down."
Right there, standing behind me, was my partner exactly as he said he would be if I needed him. As it turns out, when he couldn't get me on the radio either, he ran code (lights and siren) to the call. Within moments we had the suspect in custody and got help for the female.
I learned alot that day. I learned to always reassure those that I love the most when they are in their own moment of insecurity.
There is nothing sweeter than hearing the voice of reassurance from someone who cares about you.
To this day those exact words. "143, I'm right here with you and I'm not going to let you down" means so much more to me.
If you are feeling insecure in your efforts to get fit, we are here. We are very good at what we do and we are willing to go the distance with you. Please don't delay contacting us.
And just for the record, 143, I'm right here with you and I'm not going to let you down.

UB -Past, Present and Future |

Outside the first Main Street Frisco UB Studio
About 11 years ago I entered the fitness field almost by accident. Most people who know me know the story about how an arrest I was trying to make ultimately opened the door to my fitness career. Over the years following that day, Ultimate Body has seen many changes. Today, Ultimate Body is set to turn yet another interesting and exciting corner. First though, lets go back to the early days!
Back in the 90's, the Ultimate Body program consisted of "sneaking" the Frisco YMCA at 11:30 PM each night after my police shift to train a few other police officers. Back then the YMCA was connected by a common hall to the Frisco PD. The director of the YMCA allowed me to train there late at night, as long as I left the lights off. Needless to say, Ultimate Body really started "in the dark."
Later, I started training at the Lakewood Gym in Dallas. I would patrol through the day and then train in the evenings. I still attribute most of my training knowledge to the time I spent training at Lakewood Gym. After about two years, I took the Ultimate Body program back to the Frisco YMCA where the population was booming.
Once I had the UB program back at the Frisco YMCA, it began to really grow in popularity. People were beginning to hear about the program and the classes were getting packed! Ironically, the YMCA is a not-for-profit organization and the revenue that the UB program was generating became a point of contention. In the end, I was fired and forced to take the UB program elsewhere.

| Time Well Spent |
By Angie Campbell
Do you know the old saying "It takes a village to raise a child"? That theory applies to the UB program as well. Accountability is way more than having to do "x" number of push-ups for eating poorly or missing class.
Accountability starts with you. Set realistic goals and do everything in your power to reach those goals. Some very basic goals could be to show up to class every day, to plan your menu in advance, to make sure that you are drinking plenty of water. Those are all very simple steps that play a huge role in achieving your success.
Another way accountability is so vital to the UB program is in being a good workout partner. Encouraging your partner to give 100%, making sure you are there to spot them, and are also assisting them during high points are just some of the ways you can be a good workout partner. The most important characteristic of a great workout partner is dependability. If your partner isn't there, your workout suffers. Most people cannot push themselves the same way the encouragement from someone else can. Always "be there" for yourself and for your workout partner.
Accountability is also experienced as a class. When a new person joins a particular class often times they are nervous, inexperienced, and possibly intimidated. What an opportunity for a seasoned UBT-er to help assimilate that "newbie" into the program by sharing their knowledge of what they've learned! The one thing all UBT-ers have in common is that everyone was new to the program at some point. Take the time to be supportive of all the people in your class. With this type of supportive atmosphere success is more easily achieved by everyone. |
| Staying Focused on Healthy Eating |
As UB transformers, you already know, nothing about Ron's program is easy. The workouts are tough, and the accountability is high. Furthermore, since you expect positively dramatic results in just five months, you must be willing to embark on a very healthy and aggressive food program designed to help you reach your goals in a relatively short time. To remain on this bee-line path toward dramatic fat loss and, thus, a healthy lifestyle, you must be willing to eat, on a consistent basis for five months, probably healthier than you have ever eaten in the past.
To maintain this aggressively healthy way of eating, you must exercise a great deal of self-discipline, consistently opting for only healthy foods. In other words, except for cheat meals, you cannot afford to cheat further by having occasional bits of unhealthy foodstuff and still expect to meet your daily nutritional recommendations. On the other hand, once you have reached your fitness goals and want to maintain your new fitness level, whether you believe it, eating or drinking these occasional bits of unhealthy food and drinks is OK, as you will know exactly how to quickly delete those extra calories without compromising your fitness level. You will be a stronger, healthier and happier person with more physical stamina in this maintenance mode, but until you reach it, you must stay on a highly focused path of eating healthy during your five months in the program.
After completing the program, consuming an occasional unhealthy piece of foodstuff will not necessarily turn you into the less fit person that you were when you first began the program. What I expect is your being able to maintain your new healthy fitness level, since you will have the tools to keep fit on your own. The take home of this article is this: save for your cheat meals, do your best to eat as healthy as possible in this boot-camp like food program, and then once you are done with your twenty weeks, use what you have learned to maintain or improve your fitness level. | |

I hope that you found what you needed here. If you are ready to change your life, I will do everything within my power to help you achieve that change. It all starts with believing in the impossible then taking that first step. But, it's not over once you achieve it. When you have made it, you still have one thing to do. Enjoy it!
Sincerely,
Ron Lyons Ron Lyons Ultimate Body Studios, Inc.
