Have you ever heard of a 5 percenter? 5 percenters
are few and far in between so it is quite possible that
you may not know what they are. And, as you may
guess, there are 95 percenters too. I would venture a
bet that your life is full of 95 percenters. And, if you
know me, then you know at least one 5 percenter.
What is a 5 percenter? Simply put, it is a person that is
so driven, so motivated to achieve that they will only
settle for the very best they can accomplish in most
every category of their life. It is not uncommon to see a
5 percenter at the top of their game in their career
field. These are the people who also push to be at the
top of anything they do or are involved in including
sports, relationships and everything else.
It's not that 5 percenter is any better than anyone else,
in fact, they generally feel quite the opposite. What
makes a 5 percenter unique is that in each situation,
they truly believe that they can succeed. 5 percenters
are not generally people who harbor doubt,
especially self-doubt. In essence, a 5 percenter sees
success in most situations from the very beginning.
In my life, I am definitely a 5 percenter. I have seen
this fact played out in so many areas of my life.
Back in college I decided to not make less than a
perfect score on everything I did. I maintained a perfect
4.0 GPA and received every honor imaginable. As a
police officer I decided to be the very best drug
interdiction officer possible. Some of my records,
including the largest single cocaine seizure in the
Eastern District of Texas still stand. Being a 5
percenter in fitness is what has helped me get to
where I am currently and it is what will continue to
propel me to be the very best that I can be.
In your own personal approach to fitness, I would like
for you to
become a 5 percenter. In other words, I want you to
see success before you even start. Believe in your
ability to succeed. Do not doubt yourself. Don't settle.
Push for the very best that you can possibly
accomplish and expect the best!
While you are pushing for complete success in
fitness, eat every meal as cleanly as possible. On
each and every repetition of every set, push yourself to
new highs. If you have a specific goal, for example,
getting six pack abs, then apply yourself to that goal as
a 5 percenter. Believe then achieve! Do every single
thing you can do, as best as you can do it, until you
achieve your goal.
The principles of being a 5 percenter can be applied
to many different areas of your life, even if you are not
a born 5 percenter. I live by the quote below by William
Jennings Bryan because I truly believe it is true.
Destiny is yours to choose. It is yours to go and
achieve. What are you waiting for?
"Destiny is a matter of choice, not of chance. It is a
thing to be achieved, not waited for." -W.J. Bryan
