What is a Body Transformation Class Anyway?

The Body Transformation classes are group training at it's best. Basically, a participant gets a place to train (Fit Body at Preston and 121), a dedicated time to train, a training partner, continuing instruction over the 16 weeks on how to lift properly as well as breathe properly, a continuing focus on nutrition as well as accountabilty and regular measurements of body fat. There are also regularly scheduled cardio and abdominal sessions. All of these items are inclusive and there are no additional fees for the gym or any of the other services listed. The Body Transformation is your food, cardio and weight training along with a gym, a partner and a dose of fitness education all thrown in at one price. There is less for you to worry about so that you can focus on your own personal fitness goals.

While this may seem like the perfect program, it is only as strong as it's participants choose to be. There is every reasonable measure in place o help the participant succeed, but there is no way a person can be forced into success if they have not already made the decision to do so.

However, once a person has made the decision to apply themselves in the Body Transformation program, they can make incredible changes in their bodies and their life. Profound changes in body fat, lean tissue and most importantly, in mental strength are usually made.

There is a standard protocol for eating as well as for lifting weights and doing the cardio sessions. At times, variations are made to the routines to keep the body guessing and improving. New ways and techniques for lifting weights are not uncommon.

What we try to do is eliminate any of the common reasons people run into on ther own for not completing a fitness program. For instance "my partner quit on me" or "I forgot to pay the gym dues this month" or "I just didn't know how to change my workout." Other excuses such as not knowing if you are getting results since you only have a scale to measure progress by or not having a set time and place to workout are all handled for you.

The next 16 Week Body Transformation starts March the 28th at either 5:30 am or 6:30 am. The classes are M-Sat. for 16 weeks. The current all inclusive pricing is $312 per 4 week block. Space is limited to 12 participants per class so call today to reserve your space 214-232-0730.

All or Nothing
by Ron Lyons
Have you ever started a fitness or nutrition program eating right and working out like crazy for a while then slip up and eat something unhealthy or miss a workout and fall completely off the health wagon? It's like we forget all of the hard work and effort we have just put into the last few days or weeks and let some little mistake throw us off track. The interesting thing is that it isn't the bad food or the missed workout that causes us to get off track, but rather our response to them. Confused? Let me elaborate.

I have always been one of those "all or nothing" kind of guys which is one heck of a way to live your life. I mean, I either made straight A's in school or I was barely passing. My car was either perfectly clean with every little detail shining in the sun or it looked like Oscar's trash can on wheels.

In fairness, living as an "all or nothing" kind of person can have its good points. For instance, if you are on a special project at work, you can be the leader of the pack. You can set standards that your co- workers can never equal and surpass even your own expectations at times. If you do your lawn work while in the "all" mode, your lawn will be the best looking one in the neighborhood.

But, there is also a negative side to living as an "all or nothing" kind of person. Obviously, it's when you end up with the "nothing" part of the deal. The same project at work that you could have hit a home run with can equally be a disaster. You won't get it done right, it won't be on time and in the end it will be deemed a failure, hence the "nothing" aspect of your personality. You're your lawn? Forget about it. Weeds, brown grass and shrubs growing wild will be the order of the day.

The problem, it seems, comes when the "all" mode switches over to the "nothing" mode. Mind you, every time that I switched from the "all" to the "nothing", there was no great flash of light, no great claps of thunder. Heck, there wasn't even a little warning light or anything to let me know that the change was coming. It just happens. So I, probably like you, can go along perfect in my "all" mode for a while then at the drop of a hat (or crunch of a chip) I am in the "nothing" mode.

I have never experienced the negative effects of my "all or nothing" ways more than in my own personal diet and exercise program. In the past, when I was in the "all" mode, I would eat every meal with precise control; lift weights with perfect form, never missing a scheduled meal or a workout. Then, BOOM! "Nothing mode."

Usually the change from "all" to "nothing" mode came with something as simple as eating something that wasn't on the "diet" or by some other minor event like cutting my cardio session a few minutes short or even missing a workout. Usually just some tiny little event that really didn't matter in the grand scheme of things was enough to throw me from perfection to complete imperfection.

After eating some small food that wasn't on my eating plan, I would go completely off of the plan and eat everything that I knew wasn't right. If I missed a workout, I would just stop my training all together. Crazy isn't it?

You may be thinking, "That's exactly what I do. I have tried so many times to eat right and work out only to slip up and just quit altogether." When you do that many times over and over, it is easy to understand why some people begin to think that they will never be able to succeed in their fitness efforts.

So, how do we fix this problem? Easy. Go to the root of the problem and make a change. The root of this problem is in that "all or nothing" way of thinking. Start right now by accepting the fact that you WILL make mistakes and slip up from time to time. Great. When you do (not IF you do) get right back on your program and never look back. Let's say you gave in and had those chips today at lunch. Fine. Eat your next meal like you never ate the chips. You say you missed a workout today? Cool. Be at the next one just like you never missed the last one.

Simply put, there are always going to be imperfections in your exercise and nutrition efforts. They are almost always small and insignificant in the grand scheme of things. But, the way you will deal with them from now on will have changed. No longer will some little slip up be the end of a great and promising future for your health and appearance.

Let me just say right now that if I personally still followed this self destructive "all or nothing" way of thinking, you would not be reading this article right now because I would have never succeeded in getting fit. So I know for a fact that it is possible. I mean, you are reading this right now, right?

So, go ahead and start that new fitness program now. Now? Yes, now. Right now. Not tomorrow, not in ten minutes, now. You don't need one more unhealthy day of eating. You don't need to go buy new shoes first. You don't need to ask Suzie next door to join you. All you need is to get started. But do it differently this time. For once in your life, come right back to your program after making your mistakes. Don't drop it altogether. Be persistent, be consistent and expect great things!

Short Biography: Ron Lyons

Ron Lyons is a in-your-face kind of guy, right? Right. But what else about him do you know? Well, here is a short bit of information to help you get to know him better.

Ron was born in Dallas in 1968. He went to Garland schools until his sophomore year in high school. He ended up graduating from North Mesquite back when parachute pants were cool and Michael Jackson was not a freak.

Ron went on to work in the real estate field with his family business before becoming a police officer. It was during his tenure as a police officer that Ron had his life changing experience that eventually resulted in him becoming a Fitness trainer.

That particular event came about when Ron was involved in a scuffle while trying to arrest an intoxicated driver. He was so out of shape and over weight (244 pounds on a 5'09 frame) that he almost died from his inability to breathe while effecting the arrest.

Ron soon read everything about food and exercise that he could possibly get his hands on. He enrolled at the Cooper Institute and became a certified Physical Fitness Specialist, a designation higher than a common personal trainer designation.

Ron has now been involved with literally hundreds of people in pursuit of their own fitness goals. He started Body Basic Training Fitness Boot Camp in the late 90's and opened his own huge training facility in Prosper, TX as well as an outdoor location in Frisco. He now has partnered with Harold and Jill Owens at Fit Body in Plano to continue his latest program, the 16 Week Body Transformation Program.

Boot Camp News

In recent weeks there has been tons going on in Boot Camp. First, there has been a 5:30 am class added with Instructor Nelke. This is a start-up class with a good collection of recruits so far. This class is kicking some serious butt with their "pain-sticks" and a loud grunt from the gut when they exercise well.

The 7 pm class is also rocking along. There have been an influx of newbies this month, although some have already dropped out. I guess the enrollment of some foofie yoga class somewhere increased. However, some of the newbies are still kickin it hard. There has been a huge increase in their numbers on the push up tests and on the sit ups. They are not winded after basic PT and have a great attitude. My congratulations to you guys for staying the course and seeing it through to it's end.

The Prosper girls are doing some serious butt kicking on their own. I have never been more impressed than by the "stay with it" attitude these girls have shown. Alabama, Rock, McAnything and Manto have survived bad weather, tough days, personal issues and have come through the storm stronger, better people because of it, not to mention that they are in super physical condition. They will continue to improve on a weekly basis and I expect that this summer will be one of their healthiest and bikiniest yet.

If you or someone you know would like to enlist, you have to apply first to make sure that you have the proper attitude for this training. Next, you will start on a Monday and 4 weeks later, you will graduate -if you don't QUIT that is. The first 4 weeks are $150 and then it is $100 per 4 week block after that, if you decide to continue.

You see, it isn't about you versus the class or the hard core exercising, it is about you versus you. You will have to put your attitude in your pocket, put your knee pads on and get ready for push ups, side straddle hops and a little bit of fun added in.

Thank you to Scotty P's for putting up with us this week during our restaurant raid. The push up contest in the middle of the dining room was good and having everyone meet each other in their "civies" was fun.

There is a reporter form one of our local stations that has contacted me about coming out and trying the class. In the past we have had Carmen Dexter from Channel 5 and Shirley Washington from Fox4 come out and give us a try. Both of them enjoyed the training and did very good newscasts from class. This time we have a male reporter coming. It should be fun!

If you are one of my boot campers keep up the good work. It says a lot that you are putting yourself through this training. It will say a lot more when you have mastered it.
