This month will look at the importance of professional parts counterpeople and how they effect fixed operations. I have developed a new training program for Parts staffs and a few points will be highlighted.
 
 
The Professional Parts Counterperson 
 
The professional parts counterperson must understand the importance of their job. Turn around time for Technicians and fill rates are not generally discussed. Related sales should be suggested and included in price estimates to save time and improve Technician performance. Related selling is important with retail counter sales and wholesale accounts as well. Lost sales tracking must be a habit with the professional parts team to stock needed items and improve fill rate. Many dealerships have conflicts between service and parts allowing poor counter service to Technicians. Be sure your staff understands the need for prompt courteous professional processes in all fixed operations. The different departments are like gears that must be in sync to provide proper customer care.
 
Brake Fluid Tester

Most bake fluid tests involve an expensive chemical strip over $50.00 per bottle. Many of these jobs are needed and not performed due to advisors and Technicians never checking the condition of fluid.
