Recently a friend half-seriously suggested
the main benefit of raising children is
learning how to care for our parents as they
grow older. She said taking care of someone
who needs your help is an important skill we
use throughout life. It's not just a
technique we learn once and keep polished,
but an attitude to illuminate how we treat
people.
Does this make sense to you? I have no
kids,
and I'm not so sure this is the MAIN benefit
from raising children. Still I'd say it
ought to be high in the list.
