Creating the Mood You Want,

from an Elegant Trio to a Swinging Sextet

A guide to help you and your friends preview the Magnolia Jazz Band

I recently joined a number of colleagues in a photographer's studio near San Francisco. See my portrait (above) from that night. Met some new friends there and chatted with many old friends, about how we can all work together, to serve our clients better. It's so nice that we're helping each other stay on top of things. Thanks for the wonderful picture, Richard. (Richard Mayer Photo).

Whether your main focus these days is personal or business, let me urge you to join a network like this -- or two, or three. Get involved with optimistic people who know you well and will give your name to their friends and clients.

On another note, I recently blogged about my four New Year's resolutions, based on an old, familiar theme. If you're in the same boat with me, you'll enjoy reading how I came up with these four resolutions:

1. Every day, I'll smile at the first driver who cuts me off. (based on "something old")
2. I'll continue learning how to communicate better online. (based on "something new")
3. I'll continue using our senses to help plan parties. (based on "something borrowed")
4. I'll read more widely and listen more deeply. (based on "something blue")

Will you be celebrating a significant event soon? Throw a party and include us. Or do you have friends planning their wedding? Please recommend us. Forward this note or email our report "Selecting Your Wedding Music".

Today I'm talking with people planning parties for Valentine's Day and St Patrick's Day. If you'll have a party on one of these days, or on any day in between, now's a good time to plan the details, including the music. Have a question? We'll have the answer.

Call us at 408-245-9120. You'll love what we do. We're easy to work with, so let our experience help your celebration. We play at private parties nearly every day, and you or a friend can preview us on Sunday, February 8, entertaining brides-to-be in the Bridal Extravaganza at the San Jose Fairmont. Please visit MagnoliaJazz.com for details on this event and more. In the meantime, I hope you're enjoying a wonderful New Year and we'll be working together soon.

Please send me a comment. What do you think about all this? I'd love to hear your opinions.
