Scholarly Series on Proust Starts this Month
|
The Library is pleased to announce its latest scholarly program series. This fall we will join forces with The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum to present Dipping into Proust, a multi-media series of programs based on Marcel Proust's In Search of Lost Time, better known as Remembrance of Things Past or, in its original French, À la recherche du temps perdu. The novel, in seven volumes, is one of the longest in the world at 1.5 million words. Our series will focus on just the first book, Swann's Way, the volume that contains the now famous "episode of the madeleine" which sparked the involuntary memories of the book's narrator.
Events taking place in September and October include book discussions, a lecture by Yale scholar Mark Schenker, and a concert of classical music from Proust's era. Click here for a full schedule and information on how you can participate.
Dipping into Proust is made possible by the support of the Friends of the Ridgefield Library and the Wadsworth Russell Lewis Fund.
