Summerfest Is Saturday!
Summerfest Stop by the Library booth on Main Street during Summerfest, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Saturday. We'll have the latest information about the New Ridgefield Library and our move to temporary quarters at the former Balducci's building during construction.
Tuesday Kids' Author Event Postponed
The event with Rich Cohen, author of Alex and the Amazing TIme Machine, orioginally scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, has been cancelled.  Please "stay tuned" and we'll reschedule as soon as possible.

An Introduction to the Universe Around Us
Families with children ages 5 and older are invited to  learn about the universe. Bob Crelin will share his book There Once Was a Skyful of Stars and inform about light pollution.  No registration.

The Bossy Frog Concert
The Bossy Frog Band will perform a lively concert for all ages!    No registration.

Jazz Concert Wednesday

Jazz Concert with Chris Coogan Quartet

Playing for us this afternoon will be Chris Coogan on vocals and piano, JIm Royle on Drums, John Mobilio on Bass and Rex Denton on Trumpet. The band will play a broad range of jazz and standards from Louis Armstrong to Louis Jordan, Coltrane to Coogan Originals.   Coogan is known for his wide repertoire and fanciful interpretations of well known material.  Come and be ready to clap, sing and be entertained.

Want to know how to download eBooks or audiobooks from the Ridgefield Library?  Stop by the Dayton Program Room anytime between 1:00 and 4:00 PM, where members of our staff will be offering both an overview and one-on-one assistance in how to download both eBooks and audiobooks from our OverDrive service. Don't have an eReader and considering purchasing one?    Drop in for some "hands on" time with a Kindle, Nook, Sony Reader or iPad.

  • Monday 10:30 AM Drop-in Storytime (Stories, songs and a film for children aged 3 and up)   
  • Tuesday 6:30 PM Scrabble (Play with a tournament experienced teacher. For grades 4 - 8.)    
  • Wednesday 10:30 AM Night Owls (Children going into grades Kindergarten and First are invited to hear stories, play games and make crafts! ) 
  • Wednesday 2:00 PM  Dream Weavers (Children going into Grades 2 and 3 are invited read stories, play games and create crafts.)
  • Thursday 10:00 AM  Mother Goose (Music, movement and rhymes for infants through age 2 with a caregiver. In the Dayton Program Room.)

  • Friday 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM Friday Flicks (Short films based on favorite picture books for ages 2 and up)

At the Library, and at 19 other locations in town through July 31st, that's where!  In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the first appearance of this beloved character, independent bookstores across the country, including our own Books on the Common, are hosting a contest.  Pick up a search list at the bookstore or the Chamber of Commerce and see how many places you can find the famous fellow in the striped shirt.  Collect cards at each spot to win great Waldo prizes!  Stop by the Library or call Books on the Common at 203-431-9100 for more information.
Book Buggy Buzzes In for July!
Book Buggy
A pilot program introduced by the Friends of the Library, the Book Buggy is a cart stocked with reading material for people of all ages, available for casual use. Book Buggies will be found this month in Ballard Park (M-W-F 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM) and at the Recreation Center (during the center's hours of operation).

brickYou can take home a little piece of the Ridgefield Library once construction starts and a large part of the building is demolished.  For just $10 you can purchase an authentic brick from the current Library as a keepsake. They make a great bookend, paperweight or doorstop.  Reserve your bricks now at the Circulation Desk or purchase online.
