What's with all the purple? No, the Companion wasn't overtaken by a purple people-eater of the one-eyed and one-horned variety. Instead, the season of Lent will soon be upon us, and . . . you guessed it . . . purple 'tis the color of the season. Read on to learn more about opportunities to deepen your relationship with Christ this Lent. |

The More You Know . . .
In developing countries, sweatshops subject their workers to poor working conditions, long hours, and extremely low wages. On the other hand, buying "sweat free" clothing allows workers to join unions, enforce their own rights, and earn a living wage. Supporting sweat free labor provides workers with the rights they deserve and hope for a better future.
Alta Gracia is a new brand of t-shirts and other apparel that is sold primarily on college campuses. This company pays workers a living wage - one that is enough to provide adequate food, clean water, clothing, shelter, health and child care, and education - for them and their family. Contrary to popular belief, Alta Gracia clothing does not cost more than the apparel already sold in college bookstores. The Rockhurst bookstore is a proud supporter of the extraordinary work that Alta Gracia is doing, and currently sells a variety of their products.
