Congrats to the Big Fresno Fair!
The Big Fresno Fair was presented with the "Academy Award" for the fair industry, the highest honor given - the Merrill Award. 54 tons of food was collected during last September's Feed the Need community food drive. It was the largest single day, single location food drive in the nation! Partners included The Salvation Army, Community Food Bank, corporate, non-profit and media partners and hundreds of volunteers. Girl Scouts of Central California South collaborated with Boy Scouts, Sequoia Council, to distribute more than 70,000 flyers to schools in Fresno and Madera counties, asking the community to support the canned food drive.
Leanne represented Troop 2227, Daisies and Brownies who donated 86 cans of food, at the announcement about the award.

Buff Up Your Brain Power
Every day we acquire knowledge, understand and analyze,
innovate and create, remember what we've learned, and make connections to information we've obtained. The question is, is it possible to increase IQ so we can do these things faster and easier than before? After taking an in-depth look at what's happening with current neurobiological and cognitive research, Newsweek researchers reported that IQ can indeed be increased "by a staggering 21 points." The article reports that the increase can be obtained, with work, over a four year period. LearningRx brain training programs, however, enable students to average a 15- to 20-point increase in 12 to 32 weeks! As one cognitive scientist explained, 20 points is a "huge difference," and can take someone from "below average" to "average," or from "average" to "gifted." Even more interesting, researchers concluded that changes in IQ are linked to measurable physical changes in the brain. Read: Buff
