Celia and her brotherHanford Girl Scout saves brother's life!
Celia, a Senior Girl Scout in Troop 245, recently took a CPR/First Aid course with her Troop. Shortly after taking the course she walked in on her younger brother choking on his food. Without hesitation she gave him the Heimlich maneuver.  She realized he still had food in this throat and performed the maneuver again and saved his life! Celia is being awarded the Life Saving Award for her heroism. She was recently on CBS 47 talking about saving her brother's life, and the interview was also published on the Girl Scouts USA Blog.

SU 14Girl Scouts Help Exeter Food Bank

On Saturday, November 19th Troops from Service Unit 14 held a Scavenger Hunt-Food Drive. Girl Scouts went door to door collecting food for the Exeter Food Closet.  All items had a point value with Thanksgiving themed items being worth more points.  At the end of the 2-hour collection period, each team totaled their points and the winning team received a $50 gift card to Michael's Craft Store.  Many of the girls then went to the Food Closet on Tuesday night to assist in the sorting and distribution of the food items. Thank you to all who participated, to the community of Exeter for their generosity, and to the Exeter Food Closet for their willingness to work with us.
