PLAN COMMISSION OKS ULI PLAN FOR 800 BLOCK OF EAST WASH

 

Arriving before the Plan Commission to a cold reception two weeks ago, a proposal to sell the north side of the 800 block of East Washington Avenue to Urban Land Interests for redevelopment will go to the City Council.

  

LISTEN UP, MADISON WE NEED TO CHANGE OUR ATTITUDE ON GROWTH

 

In weeks to come, our citys school leaders face an unenviable three-part budget gauntlet. First is a cost increase just to maintain current operations, second is adding spending for long-deferred building upkeep, and third is new costs to combat the much-discussed achievement gap between white and minority children....

  

PRAIRIE ATHLETIC CLUB TO EXPAND OUTDOOR WATER PARK, INDOOR FACILITIES

 

Prairie Athletic Club announced two planned additions totaling 40,000 square feet at the indoor-outdoor fitness and recreational facility at 1010 N. Bird St., Sun Prairie. The first addition, at 10,000 square feet, will expand the club's outdoor water park, known as Dolphins Cove and now measuring 36,000 square feet. 

 

APRIL HOME SALES.

                

The 389 Dane County home sales recorded in April were 22.7% higher than the 317 home sales in April of 2011, representing the second highest total for any April over the last 5 years.

 
NEW PLAN FOR PROPERTY WOULD INCLUDE FIRE DEPARTMENT OFFICES BUT NO STATION

 

Madison now is likely to pursue new Fire Department administrative offices but not a new fire station in partnership with a developer on a 14-story, mixed-use project near Overture Center.

 

STATE RAZES TROUBLED HIGHLANDER MOTOR INN

 

If you drive by 4353 West Beltline and you wonder why the old Highlander Motor Inn is being torn down, the short version is that there is going to be a new highway interchange there.

A planned 45,000-square-foot office building that will be the Grafton headquarters for Leeson Electric Corp. has been approved by the Village Board.
