Nailing That Next Presentation

Do You Have the Necesary Skills to be that Good Presenter?

Our ability to communicate orally and visually is one of the most-needed attributes for success in the business sector. This is a new concept for many of us.     When compared to public speaking, presentations make greater use of visual communication, demonstrations, interactive audience participation, humor, and have a higher entertainment value. Presentations demand applying a huge body of knowledge and skills that excellent presenters make look natural, but in reality, it's an acquired talent.

The economy threatening his job security was one reason for entrepreneurial thoughts, but he had always dreamed of owning his own Jeep restoration business. (Read More)

Home Biz MINUTE:

Set-Up a Budget for Low Cost Advertising

There are no hard and fast rules that apply to advertising budgeting beyond these two: (1) You should establish one. (2) It should be affordable.

* When a business is new, much of its advertising will be trial and error. Initial efforts will be largely experimental, and disappointments are likely. In short, those start-up ad budgets are often largely investments in learning what works and what doesn't. But even failed efforts are not totally wasted when the business owner can learn from it for his or her future benefit. Under those circumstances, the effort is a wise investment that can yield substantial returns!

* Consider what you can realistically afford to spend without putting other obligations at risk. But don't be too timid; for if you don't put much into your effort, you won't get much out. It might be that if you run your ads only a few extra weeks, or mail to an additional 1,000 prospects, or enlarge your quarter-sized page ad to a half-page, you might get a rewarding return!

* As a rule of thumb, you will need to spend a disproportionately large amount on your initial advertising during the early stages of your business simply because you are new. So be ready to budget accordingly. Having said that, you should also guard against spending too much too soon, and only in one place. Should you make a poor initial guess, you might wait long before you can afford to try again.
