welcome / bienvenidos

Welcome to all 1,282 newsletter subscribers!

Summer vacation is over and it's back to school for local students this week! The Jaltemba Bay Life Team wishes them a fun and productive school year.

In our last issue of the newsletter, we published a list of all the major upcoming events scheduled for this season. In it, there are many fundraising and charity events organized by or held for local community groups like Cancer de Mama, Jaltemba Bay Animal Rescue, Los Amigos, Rotary and more. You can support these great causes by attending and/or volunteering during your winter vacation. View the 2012-13 Jaltemba Bay Event Calendar

And to find out what's happening this week and next, read through the information below and take a peek at our online Community Calendar.

To help plan your upcoming trip or your day in the bay, don't forget to check the current weather conditions on the Official Jaltemba Bay Weather.

During the summer, we publish the Jaltemba Bay Life newsletter every two weeks. Be sure to watch for the next issue, which will arrive in your InBox on September 4th just in time for your morning coffee.

Saludos!

The Great Egrets in their La Peņita rookery provided us many hours of entertainment several mornings in April. Photos were not easy to take (sitting on a tree branch is not very comfy). Getting the right exposure for the white birds is always a challenge.

Where to Stay
La Peņita

La Peņita de Jaltemba is the largest of the three towns and provides the commercial and public services for Jaltemba Bay and the surrounding area. There are many businesses and restaurants dotted throughout town, as well as some small hotels and bungalows, a couple of trailer parks, and a few lovely Bed & Breakfasts, rental homes, condos and apartments. Locals congregate along La Avenida (main street) and in the plaza, which sits at the center of town. Its paved walkways and concrete benches are shaded by large ficus and palm trees. This charming fishing village is quiet, friendly and the epitome of "real" Mexico.
