With the abundance of special events that are scheduled this time of year, we decided to add a "Special Events" category to the Jaltemba Bay Community Calendar. If you haven't already noticed, all major annual fundraising and charity events now appear in orange allowing you see them more quickly and easily.
By the way, if anyone is working on the Margarita Challenge, Cancer de Mama Clinic or the Fashion Show, your events are not yet listed on the calendar. This is YOUR calendar so please get in the habit of adding your events!

|7th Annual Rincón de Guayabitos Festival|by Cristóbal Fernández
The 7th Annual Rincón de Guayabitos Festival will be held every Saturday in February, courtesy of the Asociación de Hoteles del Municipio de Compostela AC. The arts and cultural activities will begin each night at 8pm in the Guayabitos Plaza and admission is free. Click here to view the full schedule of events.

On Friday, February 3rd our Second Annual Walkabout will guide people on a walking tour of Lo de Marcos. On Saturday, February 4th we open the flood gates to our treasured silent auction, our bursting rummage sale, delicious baked good sale, and Taste of Lo de Marcos, complete with cold beer and marvelous margaritas. Updates on groups, organizations and other good works
Jane Fellows and her team of volunteers have been busy helping Kinder Schools in La Peñita since January 2011. Their goal is to help children in their quest to learn English, with the assistance of volunteer teachers and donated school supplies. We have added KinderAide under our "Community" section. YOU DID IT! Thanks to the many generous supporters of the Jaltemba Bay La Peñita Rotary Club, the third annual fundraiser was a huge success. It was a sold out event where attendees came and enjoyed a delicious dinner, Rotary fellowship, the silent auction, the folklorico dancers and the band Mañuel and Friends. Read more

Doors open at 4:30pm at Pina Colada Restaurant in Guayabitos. The event includes dinner, silent auction, entertainment and dancing.

Día de la Candelaria (Candelmas Day)
This religious holiday is celebrated with processions, dancing, bullfights in certain cities, and the blessing of the seeds and candles. Those who found the plastic doll in their piece of Three Kings Loaf (see Jan. 6) are suppose to host a party on this day serving tamales.
