We have been working really hard this week trying to keep up with all the local news and upcoming events. Because of the abundance of information, this week's issue is the largest to date. We actually maxed out on the number of article blocks we can use in our newsletter.

Monday, January 9  

Los Amigos Management Council Meeting
The Management Council oversees the operations of Los Amigos. It meets the second Monday of each month at Palapa de Guty, Circuito Libertad #4, La Penita and everyone is welcome to sit in. There is a Meet & Greet at 6:30pm with the formal meeting starting at 7pm.

Tuesday, January 10
Cancer de Mama Clinic Volunteer Meeting
This organizational meeting is for anyone who is interested in volunteering at the upcoming Cancer de Mama Clinic in February. The meeting will be held at 10am poolside at the La Penita RV Park. We expect over 300 women to attend this year's clinic, so lots of volunteers are needed. For more information, please visit www.cancerdemamaclinic.com. If you can't attend the meeting but want to volunteer, please let one of the organizers know your area of interest (contact information is on the website).

YURTS: Living in the Round Presentation

Amigos de La Cruz and the Marina Riviera Nayarit are pleased to announce "A Taste of La Cruz", a FREE to the public event at the Marina Malecon & Amphitheater from 4-7pm. Enjoy a day of fun, food & music at one of the Bahia's most picturesque settings. Meet the people, merchants, restaurants and musicians of La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Nayarit at this exciting expo-fair.

The Rotary Dinner Dance & Auction will be held Saturday, January 21 at Tonita's III in La Penita. Tickets are 300 pesos and include dinner, a beverage, dancing and lots of fun! Tianguis in Guayabitos 

The Tianguis (open-air market) in Guayabitos is held every Monday during high season from 8am-1pm in the Guayabitos Plaza (map). While slightly smaller than the Thursday market in La Peņita, the atmosphere is lively and the location is charming. 

 

Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays:

Guayabitos Yoga

Work on strength, flexibility, core power and balance during these outdoor yoga classes. Classes start at 7:30am (9am class will be added in January).  More Info 

 

Tuesdays:

PEACE Home Tours 

Explore traditional-style Vallarta casas to graceful haciendas and multi-million dollar ocean-front villas during this 3-hour tour. Tickets are $35 USD and all proceeds support PEACE projects.  More Info

 

Wednesdays:

Rotary Club Jaltemba Bay

Rotary Club meets every Wednesday morning at 7:30am at Piņa Colada Restaurant in Guayabitos.  More Info 

 

Manuel & Friends Play at Las Brisas Restaurant 

Eat, drink and dance to Manuel & Friends every Wednesday night at 4pm.  More Info

 

Thursdays:

Tianguis in La Peņita

The Tianguis (open-air market) is held every Thursday from 8am-1pm or so around the Plaza in La Peņita ( map). It is "the" place to shop for silver and handmade jewelry, tablecloths and linens, glassware, Talavera pottery, Huichol Indian artwork and Oaxacan rugs. You will also find fresh fruits and veggies, homemade breads and locally-produced honey and coffee. This is one of the largest and most well-known markets in the area.

 

Fridays:

Casa Cooking Classes

Each class focuses on a traditional Mexican meal using the freshest local foods with information on ingredients, utensils and techniques. Classes are Fridays at 2pm in Guayabitos. Registration starts now!  More Info 

 

Grilled Oyster Bar at Los Compadres 

All you can eat Grilled Oysters or Peel & Eat Shrimp for only $200 pesos every Friday from 4-9pm.  More Info
