JBAR Spay & Neuter Clinic Update
Jaltemba Bay Animal Rescue (JBAR) held their second free spay and neuter clinic of the season this past week in La Penita. During the 4-day clinic, 232 dogs, cats and even a parrot came into the clinic. You can view more photos on the Jaltemba Bay Folk Forum courtesy of Christina Stobbs.
Several animals were adopted out, but there are 8-10 beautiful animals still looking for good homes. We will post their photos and information by the end of the week.
A BIG thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and talents; donated dog/cat food, collars, leashes, kennels, supplies and medication; brought wonderful snacks and meals to keep the volunteers energized; the vet team who flew in from Canada to participate; and to all those who stopped by to say hello. These clinics are successful because of you!
For more information, visit the Jaltemba Bay Animal Rescue (JBAR) community webpage. |

We're Grateful and We're Giving Back
There are only 10 days left to participate in the Jaltemba Bay Life "Giving is Good" project, so if you've been thinking about advertising, there's no better time than right now. For every business, hotel, vacation rental and real estate property that signs up or renews their listing before November 30th, we will donate 20% of the annual listing fee -- $100 USD for every rentals and real estate; and $60 USD for every business -- to these four local charities:
- Cancer de Mama
- Jaltemba Bay Animal Rescue
- Los Amigos Scholarship Program
- PEACE Mexico
If your renewal date does not fall within this time-frame, you may still take part in this project. Simply renew now and we will extend your listing contract for one year from your original contract date. All businesses that list and/or renew during this time-frame will be listed on our "Giving is Good" recognition page along with a link to your listing page. This is a wonderful opportunity for local businesses and homeowners to support the Jaltemba Bay community, while getting advertising on this high traffic and popular website. Why I Love Jaltemba Bay
by Bea Rauch
How do I love Jaltemba Bay, let me count the ways. I love the sand beneath my feet and the sun on my face. I love the soft, gentle breezes that caress my suntanned body. I love Isla la Peņita, the area's signature feature. I love the palm trees that stand as unobtrusive sentinels. I love the sounds of roosters crowing in an odd harmony, the rhythm of the ceiling fans, the cacophony of birds, and the sound of sandals kissing cobblestone streets. I love the energy of Semana Santa I love the ocean waves swirling, crashing, foaming, relaxing. I love the potholes that enforce a Mexican pace. I love the gentle, smiling people and words lost in translation Where else could I distance myself from the voices of the world, and hear my own thoughts? I love you because you're you! If I had a rose for every time I think of you, I'd walk forever in my garden. Read other entries here >

Leadership Training -- Be a Mentor
A community without leaders will not be successful, in the present nor in the future. It will always be a victim to those who will lead from outside, private interests directed for the good of the few, at the expense of the security for all. Jaltemba Bay La Penita Rotary has partnered with Chacala Cambiando Vidas, La Penita Los Amigos and Kalispell Montana Rotary in the implementation of a Rotary International grant called, Learning for Life. Little Children are Just Kids Needing a School
Kinder, as it is called, is not compulsory in Mexico. One might say this could be a covert way of keeping the masses uneducated (just an assumption). No one can dispute however the scientific fact, the cognitive mind is operating at it peak only for the formative years of one to nine. If there is no channeling of information into these eager brains, everyone loses: the child, the community, the world.
