Matthew Davidson Band News
September 16, 2012

Greetings! ,

Thanks to Joe Osborn for two of the best things that happened this past week. First, NoTreble.com posted this article about Matthew's new EP, which was produced by Joe:
Joe, Matthew and Jimmy Webb
Second, Joe arranged a meeting with Matthew and Jimmy Webb before Jimmy's concert in Nacagdoches, Texas. Jimmy is a Grammy-winning songwriter ("Galveston", "Wichita Lineman", MacArthur Park") and the current Chairman of the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Joe and Jimmy enjoyed talking about their past recording days in California. It was a fun evening, and we plan to all connect again soon since Jimmy said the magic words, "How can I help?"

Speaking of help, we've certainly received a lot of that, and we're very grateful for it! So, to turn the tables a bit, MDB is going to offer some assistance...this time to Caddo Magnet High School. Hope you will mark your calendars for a fundraiser night at Madison Park El Chico on Sat., Sept. 29th from 6-8 PM. The restaurant will donate 10% of dinner sales, and MDB will make a donation as well.

The Recording Academy - Memphis Chapter

Blade Studios recently hosted a meeting of The Memphis Chapter of The Recording Academy. The event began with a listening session conducted by the Producers and Engineers Wing. Producers and artists had the opportunity to share one of their recorded tracks with the group. This session was followed by an informational meeting about The Recording Academy. The mission statement from The Recording Academy's website is: "As the preeminent membership organization for musicians, producers, engineers and other music professionals, our mission is to advance artistic and technical excellence, work to ensure a vital and free creative environment, and act as an advocate on behalf of music and its makers." As a bonus to the night, Kenny Wayne Shepherd previewed a couple of his tracks that he had just recorded at Blade Studios. After the meeting, everyone had the opportunity to tour the studio and to see KWS and his band recording.
