Matthew Davidson Band News
July 1, 2012

Greetings! ,

We hope you will celebrate Independence Day with The Matthew Davidson Band at the Louisiana Boardwalk! MDB will be performing on the stage under the bridge from 6:30 - 8:30 PM, before the fireworks display at 9:00 PM.

We appreciate The Shreveport Times for including this upcoming performance in their "Plan on It - Guiding You to the Week's Best" section of the Preview magazine:

Thanks to the United Way of Northwest Louisiana for selecting Matthew as the winner of their "Big Tweet" contest. Participants were asked to tweet a picture of a community service project that they were involved in. Matthew's was working with Blue Star Connection for musical instruments to be donated to Christus Sutton Children's Medical Center. No, the contest prize was not a guitar, but it was the next best thing....a gift card to Raising Cane's!

Two years of MDB!

The Matthew Davidson Band made their debut on June 25, 2010 on the patio of Madison Park El Chico, thanks to Bruce Flett and then-manager Chris Renn. The band's original lineup included Bruce Flett on bass and Greg Clifford on drums. Since that time, MDB has been blessed with the opportunity to perform at many festivals and venues in several states. The current band lineup includes Kyle McClanahan on drums, Greg Walton on keys and Chris Campisi on bass.

Matthew owes a special debt of gratitude for his success thus far to Bruce Flett, Jerry Beach, and all of the other members of Robin & The Bluebirds. Their invitation to perform with them numerous times provided valuable experience and exposure for Matthew. Bruce was instrumental in forming and booking The Matthew Davidson Band and then became Matthew's bassist!

Backing up even further, we appreciate Dan Garner for his support of Matthew ever since Matthew was 9 years old and performed in the James Burton Guitar Showdown. Dan invited Matthew to join in the Saturday jams at Christian Services Hospitality House when Matthew was 12 years old, which was where Bruce first heard Matthew play and then invited him to sit in with Robin & The Bluebirds.

We also have some special friends in East Texas - Jack and Nancy Canson in Marshall and Russ Wright in Linden - who have "adopted" Matthew and opened doors for him in their part of the world.

I never purport to be an expert at any of this "music business" world, since my educational background is in accounting! But the one thing that I want to be best at is expressing gratitude to those who help us out on this journey.

Thanks to all of you who are reading this for all of your support and we hope you continue to follow MDB's future adventures!

  -Ella Davidson, Matthew's grateful "momager"

About Matthew Davidson -

"Along with his incredible talent also comes a kind demeanor, infectious smile and solid drive and determination. Matthew's focus is clear and although his ambition seems uncharacteristic for his age, his personality, professionalism and sound continue to catapult him to new heights."   ~SB Magazine, May 2012

"Matthew Davidson is blessed with a God-given, born-in-the-bone, talent. His musicianship is far beyond his age. When I play with Matthew, it's like playing with a musician with many years of experience. Always a perfect gentleman, Matthew's personality shines through in every performance. He obviously loves what he is doing!"      ~Joe Osborn, famed "Wrecking Crew" bassist who played on numerous hit records of the 60's - 70's with Glen Campbell, The Carpenters, The 5th Dimension, Simon and Garfunkel and many more

Is it better to be a "garage band" or a "dining room band"? Greg, Kyle and Matthew are shown here working on some new songs for the upcoming July 4th concert. We appreciate all of the time and effort that the band (and their parents) give week after week!
