Breaking Even in SchoolJam USA Teen Band Contest

Breaking Even - Logan, Hunter, Halle and Matthew

The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) has announced that Breaking Even is competing in the online round of the 2011-2012 SchoolJam USA teen battle of the bands competition. Local Shreveport teen Matthew Davidson is the guitarist for Breaking Even, the 2011 Kidd Kraddick Rock Camp Band.

Starting Nov. 1, Breaking Even will be featured along with teen bands from across the United States at www.schooljamusa.com, where people from the general public are encouraged to vote for their favorite band everyday. Online voting will run through Nov. 30. (Note: - Click HERE to vote for Breaking Even).

The nationwide contest, sponsored by NAMM, is designed to encourage teen bands across the United States to demonstrate their musical talents and enjoy the many proven benefits of making music.

If Breaking Even receives one of the highest eight scores, determined by the public vote and a panel of music judges, they will be invited to perform live along with seven other bands as finalists at the SchoolJam USA finals. The finals will be held during the NAMM Show, one of the largest musical products exhibitions in the world, on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2011, in Downtown Disney located in Anaheim, Calif.

Reinforcing the competition's mission to encourage active music making among teenagers, all of the eight finalist bands will receive prize money to purchase new gear for their band from a local NAMM Member music products retailer of their choice, as well as additional funding for their school music programs. The winning band will also travel to Europe next year to perform at the 2012 SchoolJam Germany finals in Frankfurt.

Please vote daily for "Breaking Even" in November!

About Matthew Davidson -

"One of my favorite entertainers at The Louisiana Hayride Celebrates Hank Williams was 13-year-old Matthew Davidson. He stole the show with his guitar playing (used the slide like an Eric Clapton) and brought the house down with his version of "Move It On Over." " ~Elaine Etheridge, KWKH morning host and assistant program director

"Matthew is our youngest member to date, but don't let his age fool you. He is an extremely talented and dedicated young man with a passion for music and performance"."       ~John Howe, President of American Federation of Music Local 116

New look for Halloween

The Matthew Davidson Band at Madison Park El Chico-Nov 18
We're looking forward to performing at El Chico again (4015 Fern Avenue) on Friday, Nov. 18th from 6-8 PM. This event will be a fundraiser for Kidd's Kids, a charity started by Kidd Kraddick which raises funds for sick children to take a trip with their families to Disney World. In fact, a child from Shreveport was selected to go on the trip this year.

This location of El Chico will be donating 10% of their sales for the entire day to Kidd's Kids. (The fundraiser applies to dine-in sales only.)

During the band's performance from 6-8 PM, K94.5 will be on hand to help with the fundraiser and they will also be promoting the event on their station.

Make plans to join us - a fun event for a great cause!
